For so long, you've been taught to act the part of your belief system rather than how to be the part. Religious games cause more hurt and frustration than almost anything else. But today, we're going to end the religious ideals that has led to more bondage, less freedom, less joy and less peace. It's time to find the strait path.
Religious shunning bars association with people who have been labeled as apostates, whistleblowers, dissidents or anyone the religion perceives as a threat or source of conflict. Rob Robertson’s guest, Janette, has experienced shunning and will discuss this practice and the damage that it can do. After twenty years of involvement in Scientology, she and her husband concluded that the organization was a sham. They left … and were ostracized by the entire Clearwater, Florida Scientology Community. They lost their jobs, friends and even contact with some of their family members. ”It was a very public witch hunt against us,” Janette says. Since then, Janette and her husband met many people from various religious backgrounds, all with similar stories of shunning and corruption. Janette created a website called Truth Rundown to expose the abuses and corruption going on in not only Scientology, but in several religious organizations and cults such as the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (FLDS). Please visit GodDiscussion.net for more information and links. ~~~ World Cult Watch, a weekly program that airs every Sunday night, is intended to not only offer news and information about cults, but to provide a forum where cult survivors — and those wanting to leave — have a chance to talk and receive emotional support. Rob runs the “World Cult Watch” website.
On the September 4, 2013 episode of Liberal Dan Radio I welcome Jack Marshall to the program. Jack is an ethicist and a lawyer. He is also the president of Pro Ethcis, Ltd and the author of the blog Ethics Alarms.
According to the website:
"Ethics Alarms are the feelings in your gut, the twinges in your conscience, and the sense of caution in your brain when situations involving choices of right and wrong are beginning to develop, fast approaching, or unavoidable. The better your alarms work and the sooner they start sounding, the more likely you are to do the right thing, or at least to use good ethical reasoning to decide what to do. This is a blog that aspires to help keep everyone’s ethics alarms in good working order."
Jack and I will discuss several of the topics that he has brought up on his blog and several others if time permits.
Of course I will also have headlines, tweet of the week, words of redneck wisdom, and more on Liberal Dan Radio: Talk From The Left, That's Right.
If you are listening after the live broadcast you may comment on the items discussed on the show at LiberalDan.com.

ENVISION THIS: Ethical decisions at any level--ecological, social, or the built environment--must take the whole planetary ecosphere as our base context, because everything exists in relationship to everything else.
Our guest, Warwick Fox, argues in A THEORY OF GENERAL ETHICS: HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS, NATURE, AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT that defending and strengthening the "responsive cohesion" among all things should be our foundational value as we move toward a more resilient, Earth-friendly, and equitable future.
Dr. Chaps reports on these important issues:
- Christian couple sells their bed & breakfast after being harassed by homosexuals
- Congress introduces the Marriage and Religious Freedom Act
- Liberal state on the West coast is considering legislation to protect your religious freedom
What is the role of religion in a political society? How should different religious groups interact with each other? How much authority should a religion have over its believers and non-believers? Should atheists be banned from society?
