    Sexual Assault In Our Military

    in Military

    Dear Mr. President,

It is time to reform the military justice system. We cannot keep putting our military service members in a position where commanders, who are not legally trained, hold the keys to justice. We need you to declare your support for a military justice system that operates outside the accused’s chain of command. The boss of your rapist should not decide whether to investigate and prosecute your rape, and should not have the power to select the jury. It’s un-American. Please take a stand and change the system.(http://justice.protectourdefenders.com/)

Being first matters!  In the big picture, it really doesn't but we like to act like it does- being competitive is the only way to live because being last is humiliating- unless you have are overcoming some disabilty last is bad. Only thing is, we could tolerate over achievers if they came equipped with enough insight to know how insufferable they sound.  Most of them don't understand that when they talk, they sound like they are bragging.  Of course that's acceptable because they came first- isn't it? Acceptable but painfully uncomfortable for the fellow who believes this stuff.  Have you  never spoken to the middle aged guy who ran for the winning touchdown when he was 17- and that's his claim to fame?  Pubs are full of drunk old men clinging to a moment that passed them bye.   What of the men who don't brag?  The world is full of them. Freemasons call them -a bigger man! How sad to pretend to live in the past. Where is the affirmation in that?  Freemasonry only exists as applied philosophy in the moment. The history is  time graffiti; some concrete points in a time/space continuum that validate that we were there, or here or somewhere else.  That's the same as graffiti on an alley wall or a passing box car.  Graffiti never quite captures purpose until the artist is using symbols to make statements.

It's fascinating, the preoccupation we have for 'masonic' graffiti, investing time considering the evidence of early members of our Craft. Even if only loosely based on facts we have learned to tolerate that- as long as it's 'masonic graffiti it's valid.  But the graffiti rests on a deep base of undiscovered fact.

    Gentrification - Michael Chiacchio

    in Entertainment

    Guilty Until Proven Innocent...

Gentrification is broadly defined as the mass displacement of a group of people that occurs as a result of revitalization. It can be caused by practical changes, higher rents, property taxes or more subtle cultural changes. Think brew pubs and boutiques replacing corner markets and historically black churches. (Is this new racist tactics by big Corporations or maybe a government conspiracy)

"SOME GOOD CRAIC "- with The Kilmaine Saints

    in Music

this weeks show- Wednesday night 4/2/14 8 pm est with The Kilmaine Saints

The Kilmaine Saints were first conceived in 2009 by a few members of the Lochiel Emerald Society Pipes and Drums as a means to play bagpipes year round and acquire free beer and pub food. Although the idea of a band was mostly for fun, it quickly became clear that the music scene around them was lacking, and they knew just what it needed. A short time later, the Saints rounded out their crew with a singer from County Mayo, a brilliant fiddler, and an upbeat guitarist, and began pounding through blistering, high-energy live sets that have kept people wanting more. With their love of superior music and complimentary beer, the Kilmaine Saints and their Guiness-soaked hearts have been storming the North East, playing hundreds of shows from small-town pubs to large stage events. In addition to being the go-to band for the Philly chapter of the Dropkick Murphy charity fund (The Claddagh Fund), they have many large Irish festivals under their belt, including Pipes in the Valley, Celtic Fling, ShamrockFest, Annapolis Irish Festival and the Wildwood Irish Weekend, all festivals with attendance in the thousands.

With their passion for creating and performing music, and an ever-growing fan base, it’s a good bet you’ll hear one of the Kilmaine Saints’ songs being played everyplace that pints are raised and the whiskey is flowing. “The enthusiasm of [this] band is contagious; it reaches right into your soul and will get your feet moving and your heart pumping." (The Celtic Crier)
