The events over the past few weeks have raised some questions about just what is social work doing in order to improve the quality of life of people in this country. Social work talks about its role as addressing the person-in-environment but what is being covered in social work content to truly address the person-in-environment context? Are there enough human service professionals trained in macro practice to truly make a difference?
This special Dialogue show will be with members of ACOSA's (Association for Community Organization and Social Administration) Special Commission on Macro Practice. They include Mark Homan, Jack Rothmann, Kelsey De Aavila, Sue Edgerton and Linda Plitt Donaldson. They will discuss why Macro Matters. How does the profession balance the micro-macro dichotomy to make sure that macro content is adequately addressed? What are the implications on licensing if one chooses to be a macro oriented practitioner? What are the job prospects for macro practitioners? These topics and others will be the focus of this special Dialogue radio show. The show will be Monday, December 15, 2015 at 8:30 pm Eastern Standard Time (5:30 pm Pacific Standard Time).
Dialogue is part of The American Family Blog Talk Radio and can be found at: The-American-Family National Blog Radio.

Shining a light on the incident in Dublin, GA when a police drug task force killed David Hooks in his home made me look at what policies and practice the Police use in these type of circumstances. Nationally, and, locally for me, we have had a number of recent deaths that have thrown Police practice and Policy under the microscope. This along with the Grand Jury Process, are paramount to review and understand., Juxatposed with the Constitution. Joining me tonight to disucss what happened to David Hooks is Former Laurens County Deputy Sheriff Jerald "Tom" McCain. Philosopher Dr. Diana Hsieh interviewed Dr. Paul Hsieh about "Radiology in Practice" in this episode of Philosophy in Action Radio.
Most people have seen cool medical imaging devices such as CT and MRI scanners on TV shows. But what do those machines really do? Advanced medical imaging has revolutionized patient care in the past 25 years, allowing doctors to make diagnoses more accurately, quickly, and safely than ever before. Radiologist Dr. Paul Hsieh discussed the basics of modern radiology (x-rays, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine), how these different tests work, what they show about the human body, and how they help doctors take better care of patients.
Dr. Paul Hsieh is a radiologist in practice in South Denver. He received his MD from the University of Michigan, then completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Washington University in St. Louis, and an MRI fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Prior to entering private practice, he was an Assistant Professor of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine. He is the co-founder of Freedom and Individual Rights in Medicine (FIRM).
