We'll also talk about efforts to create residential downtown districts in several Bergen County towns and the trend of retail stores getting the jump on holiday sales by opening on Thanksgiving Day.
Bergen County government is currently undergoing a transition as Democratic Freeholder and County Executive-elect James Tedesco prepares to take the reins from outgoing Republican incumbent Kathleen Donovan.

Acting County Administrator Jerrold Binney led the transition effort in November 1994 when Republican William "Pat" Schuber became Bergen's second county executive.
Binney also is working with Tedesco's team to work out the details of the current transition.
Our guests also will include Record business reporter Joan Verdon, who will talk about towns like Hackensack and Ridgewood trying to grow residential downtowns.
She will also discuss the trend of retail stores in Paramus scheduling Thanksgiving shopping hours

Join us this week as we welcome Chris Fisher from Bucs Brief, a podcast about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as we talk about the NFC South and if they might be the next division who's winner has a losing record. Then we'll talk about RGIII and the chaos in DC, Adrian Peterson and the fall out of his suspension, and whats with all the players walking out on their teams? It'll be a good one!
Playing in their biggest game in years, the Miami Hurricanes choked. Plain and simple. Their inept playcalling and conservative approach in an embarrassing second half allowed Florida State to win 30-26. Maybe if they had real coaching they'd have won. Derek rants about this and a bizarre shootout finish in Pittsburgh. Join us for a special Hard Hits. Plenty of fireworks.
When selecting the best candidates to work for your organization, never judge a book by its cover. In a highly competitive job market, individuals are more likely to embellish or hide certain aspects of their histories. As a result, human resource professionals and hiring managers across the country rely on accurate and in-depth background screening reports for applicants and potential employees.
Donna McQueen is the founder of For the Record, Inc., a pre-employment and background screening company. Since its establishment in 1997, For The Record Inc. has provided a variety of pre-employment and background screening services, both nationally as well as internationally, to assist with the critical process of employment evaluation and selection.
“We’re the right size for the right size company,” says McQueen. “When someone becomes my client, I will take care of them. I will help you through your projects and I will handle whatever challenges arise.”
For the Record uses a variety of public and proprietary sources to deliver a detailed and comprehensive report. Their dedicated support staff produces an easy-to-read report covering everything from criminal searches (both county and statewide), as well as national sex offender searches and address history searches. For the Record typically works with organizations in the fields of healthcare, staffing, construction who employ between 50-75 people. Such organizations will typically run background screenings for every single applicant.
“This has always been rather fascinating to me,” says McQueen. “Even though I go about it the same way, it’s never the same name. I have to stay on my toes, be accurate, concentrate and know what I’m doing. My clients appreciate the personal approach I take with each of them and I still have clients from when I first started 18 years ago. That’s very humbling.”
