Kathleen Wirt has owned and operated the legendary 4th Street Recording studio in Santa Monica, California for twenty-seven years, and has been the sole owner since 2001. Listed by The Hollywood Reporter as one of - LA's Temples of Sound - and as one of the - Top 10 US Studios Under $100 an Hour - 4th Street features vintage analog equipment and a floating tracking room encased in sand.
In the early years, Kathleen was unwilling to allow the studio to sit empty when it was not booked, so she read the trades and frequented clubs, offering spec deals to bands that seemed promising. As 4th Street's client base grew and the studio gained in reputation, people credited not only the skills of its producers and engineers, but also Kathleen's scouting and promotion.
Twenty-seven acts have been signed to record deals through 4th Street Recording, starting with Fiona Apple, whose spec deal recording of - Shadowboxer - became the first single on her Grammy-nominated multi-platinum album -Tidal. Next came Incubus, Alien Ant Farm, and Hoobastank, all to become platinum-selling artists. The most recent is The Neighbourhood, whose 4th Street EP led to their signing to Columbia and a double-platinum radio hit, - Sweater Weather.
Kathleen is a member of NARAS, and is the Vice President of Los Angeles Women in Music. She also works to discover and nurture production careers through 4th Street Recording's internship program, which has helped launch the careers of many young producers and engineers.

Tracy Newman started playing guitar at 14 with dreams of becoming a folk singer. In the early 70s, she joined an improvisation class taught by Gary Austin, which became The Groundlings. Tracy is a founding member, and besides being in the show, she began teaching and directing there. Her sister, Laraine Newman was the first Groundling to be discovered there by Lorne Michaels for Saturday Night Live.
It was at the Groundlings that Tracy met her future TV writing partner, Jonathan Stark. They started on Cheers, and worked on many shows, including Bob (Bob Newhart), The Nanny, Ellen, The Drew Carey Show and Hiller and Diller (Richard Lewis and Kevin Nealon.)
In 1997, they won the Emmy and the prestigious Peabody Award for writing the ground-breaking -coming out- episode of Ellen. In 2001, they created the ABC comedy, According to Jim, which recently completed it’s eighth and final season of production.
Tracy has been writing songs all along and is once again performing full-time. She has three CDs: “A Place in the Sun,” “I Just See You” and “I Can Swing Forever,” (which is for children).
The winning ticket is not a powerball ticket it is a ticket that says you are saved. There are no numbers on the ticket only words. The winning ticket says winner for life, withdraw daily, and you are on your way. I was thinking about the powerball and the winnings and thought it sounds like a good thing for someone or ones to win and get things they need. A mom who wants to get her kids dental or medical care but before the powerball she couldn't. A family who needs a new house because their old home needs many repairs. But even thinking about it like that an't compare to having faith in God and he supply more than a house or medical.
What happens to a person’s emotional life after winning the lottery, literally or metaphorically?
In 1978, a trio of researchers at Northwestern University and the University of Massachusetts attempted to answer this by asking two very disparate groups about the happiness in their lives: recent winners of the Illinois State Lottery — whose prizes ranged from $50,000 to $1 million — and recent victims of catastrophic accidents, who were now paraplegic or quadriplegic. In interviews with the experimenters, the two groups were asked, among other things, to rate the amount of pleasure they got from everyday activities: small but enjoyable things like chatting with a friend, watching TV, eating breakfast, laughing at a joke, or receiving a compliment. When the researchers analyzed their results, they found that the recent accident victims reported gaining more happiness from these everyday pleasures than the lottery winners.
