With the growing conflicts in Ferguson over the death of Michael Brown, as well as the document released this week by the Department of the Army titled “Civil Disturbances,” we will be discussing the growing Police State within America that is starting to resemble Martial Law.
Despite the lack of confirmation of details regarding the death of Michael Brown, we have seen clashes every single night between protesters and police within Ferguson Missouri. We have seen wrong doing on both sides – there have been demonstrators reportedly throwing Molotov cocktails. There has been reports of gunfire coming from the crowd. The police department has deployed tear gas nightly. They have been using LRAD Sound Cannons, shooting flash grenades and rubber bullets and the media. One officer has been caught on video cursing at peaceful demonstrators and threatening to kill them.
We will also be attending the National Day of Rage in Dallas Texas as locals in North Texas gather to show their support for the demonstrators in Ferguson. We will be collecting sound bytes to play during our show as well.
What is becoming of the Land of the Free?

On today's show I briefly cover some of the news coming out of the Missouri riots and give my take on it. Alternative media outlets frequently use the term "police state" without providing an actual description of what a police state is. I provide an accurate description of what a police state is, and I will let you decide whether or not the U.S. is a police state. My opinion is that it is not a police state since the people continue to enjoy more freedoms than 98% of other countries on the face of the planet. The U.S. still allows for the private ownership of weapons, even fully automatic weapons (although they are expensive and licenses are difficult to get) whereas many other westernized and eastern countries do not allow their populations to own any sort of firearms. The general population of the U.S. still has the ability to travel freely by whatever means they can, whereas in a police state (think North Korea) mobility and travel are highly restricted.
Although I do not believe that the U.S. is a police state (even though it could potentially end up that way at some point in the future), I will say that the U.S. is a surveillance state where every word typed into a web page, or every text message or phone call, e-mail is tracked, traced, recorded, stored, and warehoused by the U.S. Government. Thanks to the revelations of Edward Snowden, we know that this show you are listening to is subject to recording and monitoring via the NSA.
Another point frequently glossed over by the alternative media is the consideration of the police in the U.S. as being "militarized". Keep in mind, many media hosts have never served a day in either law enforcement, the military, or both. I'll go more into detail and ask the hard questions that the media ignores in regards to the police throughout the U.S. Just imagine yourself put in their shoes on the thin blue line.
Thanks for listening in!
Alternative media fans are obsessed with the coming police state and nanny state all over the world. Truthers are experiencing a phase of panic and paranoia on the path of enlightenment; however, this is a phase that we all go through in our process of consciousness evolution.

It's the 60's and the police have taken over the streets of an American city; who says the 60's are dead, only the rights of every African-American in the city of Ferguson Missouri in 2014. Did someone forget to inform the Ferguson Police Department that there is a Constitution and a Bill of Rights are still in effect, no matter what the Supreme Court in recent years have become beholden not to uphold. Last time I checked the publicf had a right to know the circumstances of the unarmed shooting of a college-bound black teen, even the autopsy...but nothing from the police that are held in the public trust to protect and serve. The streets are being treated by the policde as if they are an "occupying force" and its only going to get worse and in more places than just good o' Mizzou...coming to a city close to you, an occupying force built on the fear and propaganda of the NRA and the right. That's some sick shit

In 2013, an international survey determined that the country that poses as the single biggest threat to world peace is...The United States Of America. The land of the free--where government is running amok and where citizens feel less and less in control every day. It may still feel safe to live in the US, but we are headed in the direction of a full-blown police state--a reality where we are not welcome to speak out against our own government. While the number of officer deaths is thankfully declining, the number of killings by officers is increasing. In 2013, 33 law enforcement officers were killed by gunfire. While it is a morbid statistic, it is the lowest number since 1887. Meanwhile, in 2012, police committed over 400 justifiable homicides for the first time in more than a decade. This trend would suggest that crime is increasing...but it isn’t. It only means that officers are more frequently resorting to violence.
Mayor Bloomberg’s failed “Stop and Frisk” policy allows NYPD to stop, question, and frisk anyone for contraband and weapons, often times without reasonable suspicion. In 2013 alone, New Yorkers were stopped 179,063 times. In 89% of cases, the person stopped was completely innocent. As well as doing very little to stop crime, the method is clearly racially motivated. Of those stopped in 2013, 56% were black and 29% were Latino, while only 11% were white. Until recently, prison was reserved for dangers to society. Now, you can be arrested and imprisoned for making nothing more than a human mistake. George Norris was sentenced to 17 months in prison after he forgot to get the proper paperwork and sold orchids to an undercover agent. Georgia Thompson, a state employee who accidently filled company data incorrectly, spent four months in prison.
From the beating of Rodney King to the murder of Kelly Thomas, police tactics in the U.S. have become so heavy-handed that people are regularly being murdered by those ostensibly sworn ‘to protect and to serve’ them.
The militarization of police forces – particularly since 9/11, the steady erosion of civil rights via draconian laws, and an atmosphere of hysteria generated by the ‘War on Terror’ have all combined to place the police ‘above the law’.
But tyrannical and dictatorial repression is what ‘those other countries’ do, right? Why is it, then, that we constantly see headlines of people in the U.S. being beaten, tasered, and even shot to death for such minor infringements as traffic violations? Are cops ‘out of control’? Are they ‘just obeying orders’?
This week on SOTT Talk Radio we’re going to take a look at police brutality in the ‘land of the free’. Join us live this Sunday June 29th 2014, from 2-4pm EST (11am-1pm PST, 8-10pm CET).
