    The Mystery of Death

    in Christianity

Death is a fearful, often traumatic event. Sometimes it is preceded by suffering, the result of the infirmities of age, disease or injury. Often death is shocking and unexpected. Family and friends suffer the pain of loss. The Scriptures refer to death as “the last enemy” to be conquered (1 Corinthians 15:26) and point out mankind’s innate fear of death (Hebrews 2:15). Death remains one of life’s greatest mysteries. Religions offer a variety of answers, some seemingly credible and some

beyond belief. Their explanations often contradict one another, adding to the confusion and uncertainty about what happens after death. A very common idea is that people are born with immortal souls. Many believe that after death the soul is conscious and proceeds to a literal place or condition of bliss or torment. Others teach that at death the soul is absorbed into a “greater consciousness.” Some expect to be reincarnated, coming back to earth as another person or as an animal.

Can we pinpoint just what death is? Do we have immortal souls? Are we conscious after we die? Are we destined to go somewhere to experience some form of reward or punishment?

Dynamic Dojo Talkradio: Open forum-"When does martial discipline become 'abuse'?

    in Sports

Join us sunday May 17th at 6 pm pacific time as we discuss a touchy subject..."when does discipline in the martial arts turn into abuse'?

Its a difficult subject to pin down, because context changes the meaning between 'discipline' and 'abuse'. As martial artists we know of the 'pushup consequence'....act innapropriately or disregard a rule, and a teacher would sometimes drop a student for 10 or 20 pushups as a 'wakeup call'....but if the teacher singles out a student for pushups, publicly berates them for the tiniest of infractions, or even withholds rank promotion for unspecified reasons or reasons that have no merit, that is considered abuse.

Many people call it "old school", but where is the line drawn between 'old school' and emotional/mental/physical abuse? Let's hear your thoughts, give us a call at (347) 677-0699

With Lord Manning away basking in the Florida sunshine, Dan takes over hosting responsibilities for the eighth episode of the LOVpod, and you can almost pinpoint the exact moment in which he buckles under the pressure of carrying such a prestigious mantle.  He's joined by two lovely chaps in the shape of Lee Tennant and Rob Latham as they discuss a deluge of topics.

Recording immeditialy after Bolton's embaressing performance against Bournemouth, they get things under way by discussing all the facets of the game: Bolton's no show, the flaws of the 3-5-2, the utter ineptitude of our defending and Bournemouth's chances of Premiear League survivial next season.

Then they move on to talking points such as: Emile Heskey staying at the club next season, Paddy McCarthy's injury, what Neil Lennon needs to do during the summer and how he'll recruit new additions to his squad and the saddening retirement of defender Marc Tierney.

After that, it's all about looking forward for the boys, as they preview our last game of this long and dreary season against Birmingham City and discuss the Twitter question of the week: what are your hopes for next season?

When Alcohol Becomes a Hiding Place

    in Motivation

The last season the show aired, I spoke on how sex can become a hiding place for many people. In this show I want to touch on how alcohol can also be used as a coping mechanism to deal with major pain, disappointment, shame, etc. So many people drink alcohol and do not realize that they are drinking it for far deeper reasons than to just "get tipsy" or because the taste is enjoyed.

I just want to point out that a person does not necessarily have to classified as an alchoholic to have an alchohol problem. So many people are able to function pretty well with alchohol and other drugs. They are able to hide it well and carry on with their external lives as if nothing is wrong. Sometimes others, especially close loved ones, are able to tell that something is wrong, but are not always able to pinpoint the causes and the true depth of the issue.

I wanted to speak on this because I have experienced this very destructive secret life. This may help someone who is currently struggling or someone who might think they know someone who is.

According to the National Institute on Alchohol Abuse and Alcoholism, in the United States nearly 88,000 people die annually (approximately 62,000 men and 26,000 women). Alcohol is the 3rd leading cause of death in the US. Therefore, this is a serious thing and it needs to be addressed. God does not intend for us to suffer in this way.
