MMSRS #29 - Valentines Day vs PCS vs Jobs For Male Spouses!

    in Military

Join host Dave Etter and call-in guests tackle those big issues facing male military spouses like: Valentines Day - what do I get my military spouse to show her I love her bestest, weighing that against saving money for the big PCS move that is coming quickly. Balance that with the job offer you just got, knowing you are moving soon! Hoo-boy! This show has the promise of fireworks, waterworks, and craftwork - all in one show! Call-in number is (516) 453-9167 while live!

MMSRS is a weekly 2-hour web-based radio show, hosted by Dave Etter, focusing on the needs of men married to serving military members, both men and women. Male Military Spouses are a small niche of military spouses, comprising of only 7%-8% of all military spouses. We feel left out, usually, at support functions - especially those designed with the spouses being identified as "wives"! We get cajoled at playgrounds where our kids play, from the mommies there who think we don't belong. We are proud SAHDs, who gave up our careers to follow our spouses as they dedicate thier lives to defend our country! Here, on this show, we come together and share beer recipes, diaper changing techniques, financial discoveries - manly things, for men! Airs Fridays at Noon CT, rated R for the cussing that can occur, and available for download (podcast) immediately following each show.

2 years later: Was Microsoft right? plus: Wonder Woman gets fully clothed!!

    in Entertainment

in 2012 Microsoft unveiled, rather clumisly their plans for their next gen console. Discless, Online all the time, Media Hub. Then the gaming world took a shit all over them.

Since then Sony has been thrust into the #1 spot in the hearts and minds of games for doing nothing more than being the opposite of what Microsoft wanted to be. So, Sony won right?

The battle may've been won but Microsoft may've been ahead of the curve. With video games sales proving not to be bullet proof and more hardcore gamers going for PCs and Mobile options the question has to be asked: Are gaming consoles fading away?

Plus the internet loses its shit over Wonder Woman covering up her boobs and legs for the first time i bajillion years.... take a quick guess on which topic we'll spend the most time talking about!

The Ever Shrinking Personal Computer - How Small Can They Go

    in Internet

Being a sci-fi buff, I thing about technology a lot. I  imagine how it will affect our lives, what will it mean for business, commerce, education, travel and yes watching your favorite sci-fi video episode. Well recently my eye was caught by a head line that read, “HP Launches Stream Mini and Pavilion Mini Affordable Compact PCs”. These computers are small, they can fit on the palm of your hand. I immediately sent a picture of the computer to my partner Carl Weiss with the subject line saying "that soon we will be able to make anything a smart devices". Carl wrote me back saying he’s got Topper wear bigger than this new PC. And this bring up the most important question. Just how small can functional computer go in the next five year? Peppermint box size? Match box size? Button size? In this article I will explore the ever shrinking personal computer, how they will be used and where they will take us. So strap yourself in and turn on "Honey I Shrunk the Kids", so that you and I can find the limits (if any) to the ever shrinking personal computer.

"In Other Words…" with Mike Muhney

    in Entrepreneur

You know what Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and apps are, right? Well, my guest today, Mike Muhney, and his partner, Pat Sullivan, are the ones who created it.  Out of desperation, Mike says.  They needed a program to do what a CRM does and there wasn't one, so they built it.

ACT! came onto the market in 1987 and is still one of the top sellers.  But ACT! is for PCs and Mike fell in love with Apple products, so... in 2011, he, Max Pucher, and Kristi Kuykendall put out VIPorbit.  A few weeks ago as I write this, they replaced it with Vipor.  And it gets even better.  It's free for iPhones and iPads.  And his next project is an app that can be used across platforms.  So your iPhone will be able to communicate with your PC.  The hits just keep on coming!

Also, Mike wanted me to tell you that anyone can contact him directly by email: mike.muhney@viporbit.com
