Encore Presentation of "The Miracle of a New Heart"

    in Health

Some people are born with broken hearts that seem to function adequately for years before they start to decline and become unable to sufficiently support life. With the invention of pacemakers, ventricular assist devices, and defibrillators, it seems that even broken hearts can function for quite a while with the miracles of modern medicine. But sometimes, even these magical devices or the amazing drugs that can slow hearts down or speed hearts up are not enough.  When this happens, people must be listed for a heart transplant. What happens when you're listed for a heart transplant? What miracles are involved with receiving a donor heart? Today's show will focus on two gentlemen -- one who has received a heart and another who is on the heart transplant list. Tune in to hear what miracles they have witnessed or experienced and what advice they have for others.

    Parenting from a Father's Perspective ~ Part 2

We often hear of the joys and struggles of parenting and raising children from a mother's point of view but when is the last time you heard about this from a father's perspective? Especially a single dads. Whether in a full or part-time (custodial) position of raising their children men are often left out of the dialogue by choice or design and their experiences are often left untold. This should not be the case. Let's talk about it!  Join me and my guests David A. Veney and Winfred Burns II for a continuation of this often overlooked discussion topic.

David A. Veney is a motivational speaker, author, lecturer, teacher, youth and family advocate, and most importantly is the proud father of two beautiful daughters, Tyra and Azariah.

Winfred Burns II is the CEO of Global Drive Network and is the proud dad of a rambunctious 3 year old son.

Joel Manzer serves as the Lead Editor for Autisable, a blogging community with Xanga.com that was created in May, 2009, and is dedicated to sharing real blogs from people tackling the puzzle of autism. Joel Manzer who describes himself as “just one person among the thousands sharing their stories online” is an Autism Light for his dedication as an autism father and for his vision in leading Autisable today to be a helpful resource on the voices of the diverse autism community.

“When my son was diagnosed with autism, we searched online for an open source blogging community that we would show daily life with autism. By open source, I mean one where someone didn’t have to sign up to join to read information. I’ve been blogging on Xanga.com for many years, and one day I was in a discussion with the people at Xanga.com and through that was birthed Autisable.com. Our mission is rather basic, to promote discussion of autism. We don’t take a stance on a specific viewpoint or concept about it, but want to provide an environment where people can share their ideas and journey. ”

Rob Gorski is a 36 year old Autism advocate, writer, hardcore techie, Google android fanatic, creator of the My Autism Help Forums and co-founder of Guardian Locate. However, more importantly, he is a single Dad to 3 amazing boys. All 3 of his boys are on the Autism Spectrum and have other serious health issues. His Autism Dad blog is to educate people and help them better understand what life can be like for families with a special needs children. He shares this story from his perspective as a single parent, in a very honest and transparent way.

Dr. Toni Luisa Rivera~The Propelled Heart: Moving from Injury to Insight

    in Spirituality

Dr. Toni will share her book The Propelled Heart: Moving from Injury to Insight. Part memoir, part healing guidebook, Rivera tells of her passage to insight, allowing injury to transform into the gifts she brings to the world. Rivera recounts how she listened to her body's physical pain to help unlock those wounds of forgotten childhood sexual abuse, freeing her to follow an inner-driven, more deliberate, more intentional and joyful way of life, while still serving those who needed help.
