It was "Jesus Christ" that my guest says saved him from a life of self-destruction, converting him into Christian

"I was born and raised in St. Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands! My spiritual background began with my matriarchal linage of herbalist and spiritualist on both sides of my family. My training in herbs began with my mother Elmira Farrell and my spiritual training began with my maternal great aunt, Caroline E. Thomas and many members of my extended family unit whose names are too numerous to mention here. I give thanks and praises to all my ancestors for without them, I would not be.
My first initiation was in 1991 into the order of Palo Mayombe as Yayi Nkizi (Mother of Spirits) to Mama Chola and Lucero by my late Tata Bisuako, in Miami, Fl. In 1999 I became initiated Lukumi to Orisa Oshun Ibu Kole and Ogun, Alagbede by Iya Alabumi but was instructed by Ita to follow the Traditional route to Orisa..."

We rebrodcast an interview with subjects of The Revolutionary Optimists, which screens this afternoon at the United Nations Association Film Festival 2013 in East Palo Alto. The film draws us into the world of two 11-year olds with no access to clean drinking water, a girl forced to labor inside a brick kiln, and a teenage dancer on the precipice of choosing child marriage to escape from her abusive family. From these fragile lives, lawyer turned change-agent, Amlan Ganguly mines the strength and vision to build an unlikely revolution. The film follows Ganguly and 4 children from Kolkata's poorest slums on an intimate journey through their adolescence. http://www.unaff.org/2013/f_revolutionary.html Our next guest in the studio is, Ilse van Lamoen, the director of MIND (Media Information & Narrative Development) and producer of the film, Daughters of the Niger Delta http://www.unaff.org/2013/f_daughters.html. Daughters is an intimate film portrait of three heroines who manage to make ends meet against all odds. As their personal stories unfold, we come to see that the widely ignored environmental pollution in their backyard is not the only human rights violation affecting their lives. This documentary tells a different story about the Niger Delta than the usual media reports about oil outputs, conflict and kidnapping. The film also highlights the strength and resilience of ordinary women who have to overcome injustices that we rarely hear about in the news.

Esther Gokhale (Go-clay) has been involved in integrative therapies all her life. As a young girl growing up in India, she helped her mother, a nurse, treat abandoned babies waiting to be adopted. This early interest in healing led her to study biochemistry at Harvard and Princeton and, later, acupuncture at the San Francisco School of Oriental Medicine.
After experiencing crippling back pain during her first pregnancy and unsuccessful back surgery, Gokhale began her lifelong crusade to vanquish back pain. Her studies at the Aplomb Institute in Paris and years of research in Brazil, India, Portugal and elsewhere led her to develop the Gokhale Method, a unique, systematic approach to help people find their bodies’ way back to pain-free living.
Gokhale has practiced acupuncture and taught posture, dance and yoga in her Palo Alto wellness center for over twenty years. Esther's Gokhale Method continues to grow as qualified Gokhale Method teachers now teach her method worldwide.
Gokhale's book, 8 Steps to a Pain-Free Back, has sold over 75,000 copies and has been translated into six languages. In 2010, Gokhale hosted the nationally televised program Back Pa
