What Bodyweight Do You Need In Order To Succeed?

    in Weight Loss

It's Monday, and it's also a holiday in the U.S., and that's got me musing about bodyweight and career success.  What is a successful weight?  Tooo often it has very little to do with health.  Even worse, weight discrimination starts with being less than 15 pounds overweight for women according to BMI.  As a fitness studio owner and food writer, I know that we need to be aware of forces that may be driving us to diet and exercise, especailly if those forces are pushing us into unhealthy behaviors and lowered self esteem.

Finally, Catherine shares her three steps to clarify your weight goals in a positive way.

American True Grit - How We Lost It, How We Can Get It Back

    in Politics

The character Rooster Cogburn certainly had True Grit, but so did the majority of Americans in our history.

Unfortunately, the well-known American True Grit; our courage, honesty, common sense and heartiness have virtually disappeared from most Americans in the 21st Century.

We are no longer the United States of the Minutemen, the Cowboy, The Boys of Pointe Du Hoc, the Mountain Men and Merrill’s Marauders.

Where is the America of Jim Bowie, Jedediah Smith, Wyatt Earp, George Patton, Chesty Puller, Teddy Roosevelt, Molly Pitcher, Rosie the Riveter and millions of anonymous, tough, brave, resourceful heroes who built this great country?

America of 2016 is the nation of overweight kids, soccer moms, socialist public school administrators who ban dodge ball, metrosexual men; transgender TV stars, helicopter parents and college kids who need safe spaces with Play Doh.

On the Thursday, January 21, 2016 edition of the Ray Starmann Show, Ray discusses how Americans have lost their True Grit and how we can get it back. Ray also covers the ongoing Hillary Email Scandal and other news of the day.

NBC's Biggest Loser Contestant Richard Hatch

    in Entertainment

The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview NBC's Biggest Loser Contestant Richard Hatch.

    RICHARD HATCH

    Hometown: Newport, RI

    Occupation: Television personality

Richard Hatch is best known for winning $1 million and the first season of the long-running reality series “Survivor” in 2000 and appearing on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” in 2011. He returned to “Survivor” in 2004 for “Survivor: All Stars,” penned a book entitled “101 Survival Secrets” and also appeared on “Dog Eat Dog,” “The Weakest Link,” “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” “Battle of the Network Reality Stars” and “Family Feud.” Overweight his whole life, Richard says his biggest motivation for going on ‘The Biggest Loser’ is his “amazing and fit husband, Emiliano.” The Newport, R.I., native and the oldest of four children says childhood abuses and a lack of expressed love negatively affected his self-esteem, leading to weight gain.  Richard spent five years in the Army and attended the United States Military Academy at West Point. He then went on to earn a degree in applied behavioral sciences and management from National Louis University and received his master’s degree in education and counseling from Providence College. Prior to his “Survivor” appearance, Richard spent 15 years as a corporate trainer and motivational speaker. Now 314 pounds and suffering from high blood pressure, high cholesterol and pre-diabetes, the 54-year-old father of three says, “I look forward to living less stressfully after losing the weight.”
