Every ten minutes another name is added to the national organ transplant waiting list. More than 120,000 men, women and children currently need lifesaving organ transplants. The United Network for Organ Sharing also reports that an average of 18 people die each day from a lack of available organs for transplant. Jessica Pearlman and Anthony Pugliese know what it’s like to be on that waiting list. They also know what it’s like to finally receive an organ that allows them to live another day. Emily Wiebke, Kathy Keller and Eileen Pearlman will share with us what it’s like to be the mother of a heart transplant recipient. With 90% of Americans saying they support donation but only 30% taking the essential steps to become a donor, this Episode focuses on answering questions about who needs organ donation, why it’s so important to donate organs and the difference organ donation can make in the lives of families.

Nano BioSensors: Nasal, Organ and Biological Systems Monitoring
In the 1966 film Fantastic Voyage, a group of scientists board a submarine and are shrunk down to a microscopic size in order to enter the bloodstream of a diplomat and save their life from a bloodclot. While this remains an idea of science fiction, we are forever moving closer to a time when fantastic ideas such as these come to fruition - though not in a way we expected.
This week on One Cell One Light Radio, Dr. Hildy will discuss the concept of using nanotechnology as bio-sensors, and the benefits and dangers of their use.
Imagine your body as a highly complex machine - the most complex ever created. Through natural processes, this machine runs itself. When your body temperature drops, you feel cold. If you lack iron, you may crave red meat or another source from which you are used to getting it. But these processes are automatic and uncontrollable. You can’t tell if you’re getting enough iron until you’re not.
Now imagine if you had a method of constantly monitoring your body’s processes - like the real-time fuel consumption in your vehicle. Using a fairly simple equation, your car knows the rate of fuel it’s burning and approximately when it will run out of gas. What if you knew that you that you were lacking iron before your body even did? This is just one possibility of the use of nano bio-sensors. An In-Depth discussion with Sigrid Fry-Revere, founder and CEO of Stop Organ Trafficking Now! This 501c non-profit, non-partisan agency is dedicated to removing barriers to living organ donation by communicating relevant scholarly research to Congress. SOTN! is lobbying Congress, to support living donors by removing financial disincentives that form often insurmountable barriers to Americans who wish to donate organs. Besides huge savings for Medicare, the proposed legislation could close the staggering kidney supply and demand gap, improve the quality of life for hundreds of thousands of Americans waiting for a kidney, strengthen the penalties for illegal organ trafficking, and help decrease exploitation in developing countries.
The efforts of Sigrid and her organization will have a great impact it donations of organs for those with kidney failur.

My Music is a new segment on the show to share DrCal original music and songs. Most people know me for my Jazz guitar work and R&B styles. But with this show I want to play some of the compositions I treasure. This show is exclusively for DrCal fans.
Long before I did this show I played the B3 organ and Bass Guitar for the Church. After hosting the “DrCal hour of Insight” for over four years, all I have been doing is promoting and helping other artist get heard. “My Music” will not cover the many works I have but it will show another side of what I love to do. Disease - A disorder or incorrectly functioning organ, part, structure of system of the body resulting from the effect of genetic or developmental errors, infection, poisons, nutritional deficiency or imbalance, toxicity, or unfavorable environmental factors, illness; sickness; ailment.
In today's world, if someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol, because of their addiction, they would be diagnosed as having a disease. This is usually descibed as a mental imbalance due to their lack of self control. Could this also be true for other things that we do that we know are wrong, unhealthy, or, most importantly, unrighteous in the eyes of GOD? But because of our lack of self control or lust, we are unable to or have a very difficult time quiting (repenting). We welcome you to join us as we examine the scriptures to address this issue, that is if you can handle the truth.
