    in News

Roberto Lovato will talk about his latest Nation piece. Roberto recently spent a month in El Salvador covering the beatification of El Salvador’s Oscar Romero and the violence that is plaguing that country. He was also granted exclusive access to some of the leaders of the most notorious gangs in El Salvador. He gives us an indepth look at what is really going on.

Ivan Villanueva will also be joining us to discuss his recent visit to Karnes County Residential Center, where many women and children imigrants are being held often in horrible conditions and rarely given bond.

C.D. - Forgive & Forget: Figuring out the Response to the Savagery in SC

    in Current Events

    ASA,

So much to talk about this Saturday; the aftermath of the carnage in S. Carolina, and the SCOTUS decision on "marriage", both indications of how treacherous, cowardly and morally depleted this society has become.

When should we forgive? Does God insist that we must forgive our enemies in all situations?

Or, have black people become so spiritually pre-disposed to forgive white people over others, who do us harm?

Is there a deep-rooted fear, that caused the family members of the slain, to not only forgive Dylann Roof, but declare that God has forgiven him”.

Are the victims and families of those killed or maimed during the Boston Marathon justified in not forgiving the convicted bomber, despite his apology and asking Allah and them, for forgiveness?

This Saturday's topic will have us all thinking about these deep-rooted and sometimes personal sentiments that come into play, when one is in the delicate position to forgive or not.

I must say however, we are told in the Holy Qur'an, that forgiveness is a virtue (42:40). However, did the family members of the victims (SC), fail to consider proportionality?

I note at the onset, that to be angry at Dylann Roof, for what he did, is NOT tantamount to hating him.

And for those who’ve been in gross denial for the past 6 years (and counting, for some), I have three things to say:

    "I told you so".

“Thank God for principled men like Clarence Thomas and the other three dissenters".

"More than ever, our mettle and faith in our Lord, is being severely tested, so we must strive with a hardy striving, to effect real change to the social infrastructure that has imploded, right before our eyes”.

By the way, what's the real reason for all of ado about the Confederate Flag?

See you on Saturday, June 27th!

Dad's Parenting Style Is A Response To Mom's Parenting Style - SITUATIONSHIPS

    in Parents

When a child grows up with only a mother raising him/her, and they end up on the wrong side of the tracks, the first thing you hear is, "Where was the no good Father...?"  But when that child becomes successful or famous, the first thing you hear is, "They had a wonderfully supportive mother...!"

Why is it that people generally give Mother's all the praise, and Fathers all the criticisms? Without even considering the fact that maybe SHE had impact on the type of Dad he became...?  Even the ones that are 'no-good' and/or walked out or just non-helpful....she contributed by making him a Father in the first place"

Evangelism Is... Asking for a Response, Part 3 (The Soul-Winning Motivator #108)

    in Christianity

Our soul winning passage from the Word of God today is Matthew 7:13-14 which reads: "Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."

Our soul winning quote today is from Jacquelyn K. Heasley. She said: "How you believe God perceives people will determine how you respond to them."

Our soul winning devotional is part 91 of our series titled "What Evangelism Is" from Dave Earley and David Wheeler.

    Evangelism Is...Asking for a Response (Part 3)

Reasons We Don’t Ask for a Response

Here are some reasons Christians will share the gospel but fail to extend an invitation and ask for a response.

If the Person Says No, How Should I Respond?

The fear of rejection is always the most stated hesitation for not intentionally asking people to respond to the gospel message. Understandably, most people want to be liked and do not want to encounter conflict. They are somehow convinced that people are predisposed to saying no and will not listen.

Incident Response War Gaming: Practicing the Post-Breach Panicking

    in Technology

After a serious cybersecurity incident, everyone will be looking to you for answers -- but you’ll never have complete information and you’ll never have enough time. So in those heated moments, when a business is on the brink of collapse, how will you and the rest of the board room executives respond?

Wouldn’t it be nice to know ahead of time? That’s the purpose of incident response war gaming. In such an exercise, an organization’s key leaders must guide their business through the rocky days following a major security breach, with all the media pitfalls, law suits, sales hits, morale slumps, stock dives and other threats that may come with it.

On the next episode of Dark Reading Radio, learn how war gaming works and hear some major lessons learned from these exercises. Our guest will be Emily Mossburg, who leads the war gaming efforts for Deloitte Cyber Risk Services. Join us at Wednesday, May 27 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
