In the echo of Hurricane Katrina, World Footprints will explore a sample of the multiple treasures that can be found in New Orleans. We will share a wonderful conversation with Chef Leah Chase of Dokie Chase restaurant fame. Chef Leah is an iconic figure in New Orleans. She was the inspiration behind Tiana, the principle character in the Disney Animated Picture Princess and the Frog. Then World Footprints will take listeners through two little known musuems, the Free People of Color museum and the African-American museum. Other stops on this audio trip include a tour through Treme and a visit to the famed Carosel bar in the Hotel Monteleone. New Orleans is a treasure trove of wonderful museums, rich history and cultural gumbo and today’s show will explore just a few of the treasure today.
Ten years ago one of the most devasting natural disasters to ever hit the U.S. was Hurricane Katrina. It lead to the displacement of many New Orleans natives as well as took away thosands of lives and building structures. Ceddy J and Taryn Brown remember where they were at the time of this historical moment and how it impacted their lives. In Creole Spirit, Life After Dusk Live also celebrates the culture by playing some of the music from one of the best subgenres in the world known as "New Orleans Bounce."
The team also talks about some of the hot mess and hot news including some of the new words added to the Oxford dictionary. Feel free to call-in at 347-202-0389.

When Kyle agrees to be the best man at his best friend’s destination wedding in Dominica, he has one thing on his mind: partying. But all that changes when a powerful hurricane strikes the island and he finds himself trapped in a village and falling hard and fast for the indigenous beauty queen, Alia Graneau.
Alia Graneau has goals that do not include men, least of all an immature, irresponsible American party-animal like Kyle. But the hurricane devastates more than her beautiful island; it wreaks havoc on her heart when she falls under Kyle’s spell and is forced to choose between her ambition, her love for her country and her love for Kyle Robinson.
Can their love, born in a hurricane, survive the ravages of real life?
Today's Episode of the Real Delia Show will be about Lessons from Hurricane Katrina. It has been 10 years since the Gulf Coast and especially the city of New Orleans, was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. We will be remembering the images we saw on the news and what was done, right & wrong. What have we learned from Hurricane Katrina. How can we best be prepared for emergency situations that can arise with little or no warning. People in the wake of tropical storms, tornadoes and hurricanes have advance notice to evacuate, but sometimes they don't. . . Why and why not? Lots of questions will be asked, and hopefully together we can arrive at some good answers. We don't want to see any more "avoidable" suffering like we witnessed 10 years ago
Immediately after the Real Delia Show is Tony Smith and the analysts from Letstalksportsnation.com with Let's Talk Sports Radio Show (They have a TV show also on Thursdays on SF Cable access and online at www.letstalksportsnation.com). Today will ba all about Football and focusing on the AFC with an AFC preview and early predictions. . . . Get ready for 150 minutes of informative and entertaining radio. . . right here on the Jay King Network. . . where the people come together.

Hurricane Katrina 10 years later. What have we learned.

Is modern Feminism helping our hurting the black community.

Show discussing news, politics and culture from the perspective of Ayn Rand's philosophy, Objectivism. Hosted by Amy Peikoff.
In this show, Amy focuses on the ways in which Obama's policies undermine the basic pillars of the American Sense of Life, with the Iran "Deal" being just the latest example.
10 years ago I was in Detroit when Hurricane Katrina was wrecking the Gulf Coast! I remember WJLB stopping the music to play Mayor Ray Nagin's press conference. I listened in disbelief to what was to be going on. Then I went home to see the images on TV. I was hurt to see people in distress and pleading for help. It hurt me that the news media called them refugees. I could not believe what I seeing or hearing. 10 years there is still alot of denial and blame being placed. The bigger question is will this happen again and is the city better prepared?
This installment of The Forbidden Fruit will look back Hurricane Katrina, it's affects and what some of it's victims are doing today. Join us with New Orlean native Yolanda Seals Stewart as we speak with former New Orleans residents and hear their story and what they are doing today. We even speak to a 95 year old, who at the time was 85, who that had to walk 13 miles through water that was as high as 5 feet. Don't miss hearing her amazing story and how she got through it.

Hard copy or digital? The literary world is continually evolving, creating innovative technologies that allow us to read books and materials we may never have had access to otherwise. Is the price, however, too high to pay? Are the innovations in book readers and publishing impacting the literacy rates of our citizens? What of our brick and morar libraries? Let's talk about it!
And, as people commemorate the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and remember those that lost their lives we ask the question, are you and your family prepared if a natural disaster hits your community?
