Susan Sullivan of the National Nursing Network Organization
During this National Nurses Week episode of RN.FM Radio, we will be joined by Susan Sullivan, BSN, MSN, who serves as the Secretary for the National Nursing Network Organization (NNNO).
Susan Sullivan recently retired after more than 45 years in nursing, the final 20 of which were in Public Health. After completing her BSN at California State University, Los Angeles and her MSN at Loma Linda University, Susan worked for 10 years as Nursing Supervisor in a large acute hospital and taught nursing at Long Beach City College. During the latter half of her nursing career, Susan worked in public health where her leadership experiences in the acute hospital and teaching helped prepare her for the challenges she found in community nursing. An accomplished nurse with a career focus on public health, Susan will speak with us specifically about the campaign to create the position of a National Nurse for Public Health within the Public Health Service.
We will discuss the bill that is now before Congress (HR 485), the legislators who are supporting the bill, and how you can become involved and support this exciting campaign!

Nursing Homes: Care for Our Seniors
As time goes on we will witness our parents and loved ones get older. Through the process of aging we will be forced to make decisions about their care if they are unable to care for themselves.
Some families are fortunate enough to take their loved ones into their own homes and provide in-home care. But what happens when we are forced to admit our loved ones into a facility which we find later to offer sub-standard care?
Well, on this episode of Hot Topics Talk Radio, we’re going to discuss the nature of care offered by nursing home facilities, and how they affect the care and over-all health of our loved ones and seniors.
9pm Pacific/ 11pm Central/ 12Midnight Eastern
We invite you to join us by call (646) 200-3148. Or listen live from your computer and join the chatroom conversation.

Tales From the Nursing Homes: Stories For Us All

While the physical care provided residents is mostly adequate their treatment as human beings defined by selves and identities is horrendous. Part of the problem stems form the way we, as a culture, deal with old age, death and dying. The result is that all the pain, existential anxiety, depression, loss of autonomy and dignity are tr
