Welcome to the Seriouside of the jril show. We will be discussing the following topics:
SEGMENT 1: NOT SO FAST REPUBLICANS
This past week, a Texas Judge shot down voter ID saying that the law discriminates against African Americans. What next Republican?
SEGMENT 2: THE LEGACY OF ERIC HOLDER
Two weeks ago, Eric Holder resigned from his position the Attorney General? What will be his lasting legacy?
SEGMENT 3: ANOTHER SHOOTING OF A (UNARMED?) BLACK TEEN
A white police officer working a second job as a security shot and killed an 18 year male who he claimed had a weapon and shot at him at least 3 times. There are some who are comparing this shooting to the shooting Mike Brown. Are we comparing apples to apples?
No matter how you look at it President Obama is facing hard times. The reality of being "The Man", President, His Highness or the one in charge is starting to slap Obama hard. No longer is he looked at as the Savior of the "people". His abilities to walk on water, hold his nose in the air when speaking and woo the dreamers have been tarnished; many say vanished. What has caused the fall of Obama?
Voter's Rights. aka Voter ID, have been making the news again; coincidence it is two weeks before the mid-term elections...don't think so!
Some interesteing things happened this weekend as I was on the road...indeed politics is on the mind of many. Also, some businesses still believe in customer service and treating their customers like people.
These topics and more will be addressed this morning at 8AM-10AM "In the Pickle Barrel".
Host Cyrus Webb welcomes author Vincent Sachar to Conversations LIVE to discuss his literary journey and the book NOWHERE OUT
Dr. Greene and the principals focused on a variety of topics, but probably the biggest: the importance of shifting away from focusing on behaviors (and modifying them) and toward the problems giving rise to those behaviors (and solving them).
In today's modern society, it is a common requirement during the course of any day to have to swipe a credit or debit card in order to complete a business transaction. A previsiously established password is usually required. Its all about having access to an account that has been established in your name. Nothing can stop you from having access because your name is on the account and all the authority associated with that account is yours. "Behold" (look and see) we have been given authority and power over all the power of the enemy. That is good. However, the fact that our names are on the books in heaven is the greatest reason to rejoice. Join us for live prayer at 6:00 AM Mon. -Fri. Dial 714 459-3963
Throughout her illustrious career, Charlotte Beers has been a CEO, a Chairman, an Undersecretary of State, and the first woman to appear on the cover of Fortune Magazine. But none of those titles compare to what Charlotte is called today: Teacher, addressing women across the United States and Europe about breaking into the inner circle of decision-making, in what she calls “the era of forging ahead for women.”
Based on wisdom Charlotte has gained on her journey from a brand management position at Uncle Ben's Rice, to Chairman of two worldwide advertising agencies, to Undersecretary of State, I’d Rather Be in Charge offers sophisticated guidance from an inside source who has been in the trenches. Part personal history, part pragmatic guide, her book gives women the tools they need to gain a level of self-belief that will help them succeed in the modern workplace.
Charlotte began her career at J. Walter Thompson Advertising, becoming the first female Senior Vice President in the firm's history. From there, Charlotte was called to bring her skills as a turnaround agent to Tatham-Laird & Kudner as CEO. Her success there led her to become Chairman/CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide advertising agency. From 2001 to 2003, she served as Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy & Public Affairs, taking on the task of bringing Brand America to the world.
Charlotte currently serves on the Board of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and conducts seminars throughout Europe and the United States called “The X Factor,” “X” representing the potential of women to lead.

SHOW NOTES: In our JOYFUL ART OF BUSINESS™ series we explore how to combine the positive benefits of our professional endeavors (“business”) with the overall positive emotional return on our efforts (“joy”). The act of engaging in professional endeavors, in any capacity (i.e., as an employee, employer, entrepreneur, contractor, volunteer, paid, full time, part time, intermittently, etc.) is an expression of our ideas and creative talents (“art”). All of this is in furtherance of our mission to surpass our goals! Our episode today is, “Would you rather be a pig happy or Socrates unhappy?” (i.e., is ignorance bliss?)
Where did the show topic come from?
From a book written by John Stuart Mill. The book is titled, “Utilitarianism” and was first published in 1861.
From Frostburg University, “Is the high-strung and hardworking intellectual superior to the relaxed and benevolent airhead? Considering that high culture requires so much attention and effort, and that it does not seem to pay off too well in terms of sociability and contentment, is it really worth the price it exacts? This is the question that John Stuart Mill tries to answer in the second chapter of his book Utilitarianism (first published in 1861). In that chapter Mill offers the famous judgment (in favor of the New Yorkers, as it were) that "it is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied." Basically Mill contends that a highly cultured person is a happier person, a person who gets more pleasure out of life than an airhead--even if such a person experiences a great deal of frustration and dissatisfaction as a result of being educated and cultured.” (http:
Has a ritual become a part of how you ask God for forgiveness? What priest do you go to for forgivness of sins? We have the One perfect sacrifice that become our High Priest that we can beieve on His and be saved. Our sins are washed away by the blood of the One who died to free us indeed.
Why is this important to remember in this up coming season? Through the Holy Trinity we can go through a purification to be made clean and whole. Verses trying to sacrifice something to be forgiven.
Let's talk about doing small things consistently in the practice to support ourselves and our pact for more joy (from last week's show). When we do a little every day, over time we make significant change. We can shift our mind to promote a regular practice because it can be whatever we make up!
Shane Krauser, the host of Liberty Storm, argues that James Madison was right when he said that an educated people can permanently be a free people. Shane talked about the following:
1. Will Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg step down from the U.S. Supreme Court? What does she say? What would her replacement look like? Should America be concerned?
2. The U.S. Supreme Court will hear at least one case regarding the Fourth Amendment (Heiens v. North Carolina). What if the officer pulls over a car based on his belief that a violation has occurred, and it turns out that the officer has the law wrong? That is, what if you’re not violating the law, and the officer mistakenly thinks you are? And here’s where it gets interesting: What if the officer’s mistake about the law is a reasonable one?
3. What lengths will the DEA go to in order to catch the bad guy? How about stealing someone's identity?
