Shannon's guest this week, Julia Torres Barden, an award-winning journalist, gubernatorial appointee, and PTSD survivor. She endured a violent New York City childhood as a Puerto Rican girl from the South Bronx, which she chronicles in her book, “NEWYORICANGIRL…Surviving my Spanglish Life.” This novel/memoir is a gritty tale of trauma and painful cultural assimilation while pursuing the American dream. After navigating a traumatic childhood that included rape, her mother's conflicted life as the mistress of a powerful CEO, alcoholic parents, and forced adoption, Julia found herself trapped in New York City on 9/11.
"In 2013, I pushed my luck and I lived. I stared down my deepest fears and didn’t back down. I shared my vulnerability with strangers and they embraced me. I took so many risks that I exhausted myself to the brink of disaster. I looked the boogeyman straight in the eye and he blinked first; leaving me victorious and free," said Julia about her memoir.

Tonight, Vito and Vito talk about ISIS, Iraq and Ferguson,MO
We are joined by the WAARadio's Holly Fisher & her new show "Reviving America"!
Holly Fisher has become a conservative superstar after her picture a few months ago went viral.
Holly posed for a patriotic picture in front of the American Flag while holding an assault rifle and a bible. Somebody compared this picture to an Islamist woman holding an assault rifle and the Koran. Leftist attackers asked "What's the difference?"
The difference is the Islamist terrorist in the picture is now dead. She sacraficed her life to murder innocent people. She's an extremist.
Holly Fisher is an innocent American patriot. She has done nothing wrong, yet is is attacked by the left!
Holly has made appearences on Fox & on breitbart.com. Now Wayne Dupree is adding her new show, "Reviving America" to WAARadio, which is aired Sunday nights at 7pm est!
Purpose. Lots of people talk about it these days. For some, it has become a buzz word they simply tune out. We encourage you instead to tune in to discovering what you were specifically created to do with your life. Yes, specific just to you. There’s a difference between a “general calling” for all humanity and a “specific calling” for each of us. Have you discovered your specific purpose – your divine assignment? Do you know who you truly are?
In this episode, Jory and co-host Jennifer Miller discuss how to realize what it means to have purpose in your life. They also explore different ways to tap into your purpose, no matter your stage of life or how far you feel you’ve wandered off-course. Learn how to know if you’re on track with the life God created specifically and uniquely for you and how to make the years to come joyfully on-purpose.
Jennifer Miller is a Christian pastor, counselor, and author who has dedicated her career to helping individuals, couples, and families strengthen their faith and their relationships.
Her new book, “No Longer Two: A Guide to How God Created Men, Women, and Marriage,” available on Amazon, is a compilation of all the wisdom she has gained and shared over the years on what truly makes relationships work.
In addition to teaching and writing on marriage and family topics, she serves as the Co-Executive Director of The Center for Living Well, a nonprofit Christian wellness ministry, based in Phoenix, Arizona with divisions in Canada and Michigan.

This week, we are going to discuss a very serious health topic on The Authentic Woman. Ovarian Cancer is difficult to detect and, therefore, has a high mortality rate because it is often not discovered until it has reached a late stage. 22,000 women receive this diagnosis every year – and 14,000 women die of it annually.
My guest this week is Esther Windmueller, an ovarian cancer survivor who founded the nonprofit organization Cancer Dancer. Esther's organization helps women who have been diagnosed with ovarian cancer understand the disease, learn all of their options and become aware of all of the newest treatments available - as well as joining these women together in a supportive community so they can connect with others who truly understand their journey.
We will discuss the warning signs of ovarian cancer so our listeners can be informed and recognize a potential problem as early as possible. Through awareness lives can be saved. “The most rewarding part of working with CancerDancer is the feedback from those who say we have really, really helped them through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Hearing this keeps us going.” ~ Esther Windmueller
