About the book:
Depression can feel like a downward spiral, pulling you into a vortex of sadness, fatigue, and apathy. In The Upward Spiral, neuroscientist Alex Korb demystifies the intricate brain processes that cause depression and offers a practical and effective approach to getting better. Based on the latest research in neuroscience, this book provides dozens of straightforward tips you can do every day to rewire your brain and create an upward spiral towards a happier, healthier life.
Whether you suffer from depression or just want a better understanding of the brain, this book offers an engaging and informative look at the neuroscience behind our emotions, thoughts, and actions. The truth is that there isn’t one big solution to depression, but there are numerous simple steps you can take to alter brain activity and chemistry. Some are as easy as relaxing certain muscles to reduce anxiety, or getting more sunlight to improve your mood. Small steps in the right direction can have profound effects—giving you the power to become your best self as you literally reshape your brain, one small change at a time.
About the author:

Ray Acosta was only in the seventh grade when he joined a local gang. He did not want to continue his education. He was going to be the leader of his gang.
His parents tried to talk to him but he would not and didn't listen.
Right before the end of school that year, he made up his mind and would join a gang doing drugs and everything he thought he was big enough to do.
However one morning while sitting in class, he was summons to the principal's office. When he arrived there he was greeted by two policemen, and the principal.
He said to himself, I haven't done anything. The policeman said to him we have a warrant for your arrest. You have the right to remain silent for what you say can be used against you. At that point, he was handcuffed and taken to jail.
To Ray's surprise, it was his mother, Mrs. Rossy Acosta who had turned him in, and asked the police to arrest him.
When Ray was released from his three week time in jail, he enrolled in Give West, an alternative school to get his life back on the right track.
His academic career spiral to great heights. He will be graduating with a 3.9 GPA. The fact that he is now graduating and has accomplished some of his goals and dreams, he wanted to credit Principal Todd Marschke and everyone at Give West.
Not only has Ray accomplished a 3.9 GPA, he has taken challenging courses that has earned him a scholarship offer from Georgia Tech.
Call in Wed. night at 8:00 pm from any phone and simply call 1-646-478-0188, Blog Talk Radio. Please have some encouraging words of wisdom for Mr. Acosta.

Gwen even sang background on the theme song of the hit comedy show "In living color". She divorced in 1991,her life began on a downward spiral out of control. Gwen began looking to the world to fill the emptiness she felt inside. This resulted in a string of mental and physical abuse relationships. In 2003 she began seeking and exploring religions. On Easter Sunday 2003 Gwen attended services at Bread of Life church in Minneapolis Mn and gave her life over to the Lord and from there started her new journey of getting to know God personally. Best decision she ever made. In 2004 Gwen had her second child Jazmine. Being a single mom terrified Gwen but she knew with her new relationship with God all she had to do was pray and ask him to see her through it. In 2008 Gwen started to write songs about the love she found in Christ. In 2010 God placed it in her heart to do her first gospel album. Gwen's desire with this album is to bless the lost, abandoned, and seemingly hopeless with Gods love through her music.
