Tonight's special guest is Dr. Sue Cornbluth from Philadelphia, a nationally recognized expert in parenting, divorce and childhood trauma. Also known as “Dr. Sue,” she's not afraid to express her direct opinions about the most controversial topics, and is often referred to as the "Power House" for child advocacy. President of Parenting Beyond Trauma, Dr. Sue earned her reputation as a leading expert in child abuse and victims' rights during the Jerry Sandusky trial. Her psychological commentary on the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newtown Connecticut was broadcasted nationally. She has appeared on numerous television outlets around the country discussing victims' rights. Dr. Sue recently completed her second book, "Building Self-Esteem in Children and Teens who are Fostered or Adopted," released in August 2014. Dr. Sue is also the author of the training manual “The Ambiguous Foster Child: Attachment, Separation, Loss & Loyalty.” Dr. Sue began her career in the field of foster care. It was there that she learned how to connect with abused children through building a safe, trusting relationship with each child she counseled. This later propelled Dr. Sue to become involved in establishing her own business "Parenting Beyond Trauma, LLC" where she provides expert consultations for parents struggling to help themselves and their children move beyond traumatic events. She is also an Adjunct Psychology Professor at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

"When a human being lives a life in which he or she enjoys freedom, justice and equality, awareness arises and one can focus on selfless giving - you qualify to be a parent because you are capable of the unconditional love that a parent has for a child.
But it is extremely difficult for Black people to get on and remain on this level, because we do not have freedom, justice and equality. We must give too much energy to the survival issues, which pull us down. This is why we cannot ignore our condition. Our freedom - or lack of - directly affects our ability to experience love and happiness in our community." in News

Deanna Spingola talks to her guests Wolfgang Halbig, Jim Fetzer and Dave Gahary, as they discuss their day in Newtown, Connecticut.

Update (by Deanna): Unfortunately, Dr. Fetzer and Mr. Halbig were unavailable for the program. They decided to join Jeff Rense later in the evening after taking a much-needed rest from their day's activities. Apparently, Halbig was unable to obtain the answers to his 16 questions from anyone in Newtown after spending all of the time and money (from donations) to go there. One may see the answers to those questions by visiting Wade's page, which he posted on March 23, 2014. Halbig did not ask the school board the only question that they, having the proper jurisdiction over, could have answered—had the school been in operation during the last five years? Some people claim that it was not. It is uncertain exactly what Halbig and Fetzer actually accomplished but their visit certainly became the focus of a lot of media attention. An NBC correspondent was at the school board meeting, InfoWars had a representative there and the local newspapers covered Halbig's viist.

    “9/11’s Lean In Legacy

    in Culture

Jack and Anastasia draw upon Gail Sheehy’s Middletown America: One Town’s Passage From Trauma To Hope, based on a two year study of how Middletown, New Jersey, a town that lost fifty residents to the tragedy coped with the tragedy.

Folks in Middletown, Boston and Newtown were forced to lend a helping hand to one another, coming out better for it, as least in their humanness, in spite of tragedy. What can we learn from looking back to aid us as we attempt to move forward in an era where terrorism and mass violence plague us daily.

As usual the on-air, broadcast portion of the show is followed by a conference call forum discussion.  Guests are welcome to join in at: 712.432.0600, access code 640883 (also recorded).

If you miss the original conference call discussion, please contact New Horizons, the show's sponsoring organization, at:zonesofpeacenh@aol.com for access code for the conference call recording.
