A Theory of Parenting - Ford Foundation

    in Travel

    Hello,

Welcome to A Theory of Parenting on Blogtalkradio.com

    My name is Tammi Joyner

I am your Host for the Show

Today we are live from The Ford Foundation Atrium!

location: 320 E 43rd St – Take any of the trains in Grand Central Station

    www.fordfoundation.org

The building is a part of the public spaces open to the public!

Inside the building, a lush tropical garden on the ground level forms the focal point of an enormous and sunlit 10-story glass atrium. Amazingly, keeping this garden watered doesn’t deplete city utilities; the building’s roof captures rainwater, and during dry periods, the garden is kept healthy with a stored water supply.

Glancing up towards the roof, the greenery continues. Ferns and vines hang down from girders above, and small trees are visible from the top floors. The garden’s serene aura is aided by the fragrance of gardenias, and the sound of running water supplying a pool hidden amid the trees. The Ford Foundation was completed in 1967 and designated a national landmark in 1997.

It’s open to the public on weekdays from 10 AM to 4 PM.

A Theory of Parenting - Rockefeller Center

    in Current Events

    Hello,

Welcome to A Theory of Parenting on Blogtalkradio.com

    My name is Tammi Joyner

I am your Host for the Show

Today we are live from Rockefeller Center in NYc

Throughout the year, the Rockefeller Center Channel Gardens blooms in uniquely themed plant installations that transform with the seasons.

Visit the Channel Gardens to see the April Showers installation on display from April 20 through May 31.

Designed specifically for Rockefeller Plaza, Masks (Pentagon) consists of five masks ranging in height from 14.5 to 16.5 feet, each of which reflects a different approach to the stylized representation of the human face, from the clearly recognizable to the highly abstracted.

The five masks, which were cast from clay in industrial-strength synthetic plaster, stand on a stepped base made from massive beams of unfinished redwood. The back of each element of the sculpture reveals the artists method of construction – a grid-like armature of rebar inlaid with hemp and plaster.

Rockefeller Center is home to a remarkable collection of art deco motifs and sculptures signifying man’s development in spirit, science, industry and more.
