Edmonton, AB – The rise in specialization among health care professionals extends to the field of mental health as well, with therapists pursuing concentrations in specific mental health issues. As a result, it’s critical to find a therapist that truly understands the complexities of whatever issue a person might be struggling with.
Insight Psychological is a psychological counseling and assessment firm for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. With 27 therapists across five locations, Insight Psychological employs a multi-specialty team approach to psychology.
“Whatever you need, we have a therapist who specializes in that,” says Cory Hrushka, executive director of Insight Psychological.
Since Hrushka assumed sole ownership of Insight Psychological in 2007, the practice has grown considerably. Last year, the company grew 60 percent, expanding throughout Alberta with locations in Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer and Spruce Grove.
“We’ve grown way beyond what I imagined,” says Hrushka. “I thought we might open another office one day but now we have five. I don’t know of anyone else in the city of Edmonton that can match what we’ve done.”
At Insight Psychological, each therapist has a unique specialty, allowing the staff to assign the right therapist to the right client. Specialties include but are not limited to trauma, grief, educational psychology including learning disorders, marriage and family counseling, eating disorders, hypnotherapy, Borderline Personality Disorder and even neuropsychology.
“It’s a friendly, connected, family-like atmosphere here,” says Hrushka. “We have a caring and supportive team of strong, ethical psychologists who are also willing to learn from each other. Clients can only benefit from that.”

Dr. John Arden will be our guest. Dr. Arden is the author of 12 books.
Dr. Arden has developed one of the largest mental health training programs in the United States. He oversees more than 100 interns and postdoctoral psychology residents in 22 medical centers as Director of Training for Mental Health for the Northern California Region of Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers. Dr. Arden also practices part-time at Kaiser Permanente. He has taught in colleges, professional schools and universities.
Dr. Arden's study of neuropsychology has inspired him to integrate neuroscience and psychotherapy, synthesizing the biological and psychological into a new vision for psychotherapy. His work incorporates what is currently known about the brain and its capacities, including neuroplasticity and neurogenesis with psychotherapy research, mindfulness, nutritional neuroscience and social intelligence. He conducts seminars on Brain-Based Therapy throughout the United States and abroad.
Dr. Arden will talk about the revolution occurring in psychotherapy and how to conceptualize psychotherapy based on an integrative model that discards the need for "schools of psychotherapy". He will explain why the future of treatment necessitates a dynamic understading of the brain and a shift away from the medical model. Dr. Arden will share the latest knowledge from neuroscience, developemental psychology, psychotherapy research, evidence-based practice, attachment research and psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral approaches including practical take home strategies for anxiety disorders such as OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder and PTSD as well as depression.
Dr. Arden will also discuss his new book, Rewire Your Brain, which teaches you how to feel more positive about your life, remain calm during stressful times, and improve your relationships.
TOPIC: THE MIND OF THE CREATOR
INNER FEELING AND IMAGINATION
The great Renaissance artist Michelangelo was once asked about his secret of creativity. He said, "What I desire, I must first imagine. What I imagine, I create!" He explained as a sculptor his task is to first see, in his mind's eye, the detailed statue entombed in stone. The act of creation, he said, was simply freeing the statue with his chisel from its marble prison The power of the mental image has always intrigued humankind. The preconceived image or "vision" is the power that motivates human action and drives creation. Until recently little was known about how this power of of the mind's eye works.

This week on Women Warriors (Wed, May 29 at Noon ET) our special guest is Tracy Crossley. Tracy wears many hats: writer-for-hire, intuitive coach, artist, marketing maven, rugalah royal, social media savant, entrepreneur extraordinaire, public speaker, clairvoyant, trusted friend & mom. She will discuss the topic of “How to make relationship work.”
Tracy’s diverse background began in the world of one-sheets and magazine ads where she worked in the family pre-press/printing business. She then spent several years in marketing & sales management, working with companies such as Dimensional Impressions, Cox Auto Trader, VMS, and TMP Worldwide in positions where she handled training and management, new business development, strategic planning, and deal closing. She put her marketing, publicity, & event-planning skills to work as the Festival Director of the World Animation Celebration. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to create two companies, which she ran & operated simultaneously: Mad Media, where she monopolized in marketing, and Mad Batter, where she reigned over rugalah, creating delicious and inventive cookies.
Tracy studied neuropsychology at Charter Oak State College. And if that isn’t enough, she paints & writes too. She sells her artwork and is writing not one, but two books.
Tracy’s current time is spent developing more public speaking opportunities. While pursuing so many interests and career paths in life may be unthinkable for some, it's her diverse background and varied life experiences that make her uniquely qualified to speak and offer guidance. She has three beautiful kids who are hugely devoted to her and is also featured in the November 2012 edition of Law of Attraction magazine.

Revolutionary tools to release all barriers to helath, healing and happiness.
What if you were the cause – and the cure – of your physical and emotional distress? Now let’s take away the doubt – YOU ARE the cause, as well as the cure, of your physical and emotional distress. My guest tonight has discovered that the biggest barrier to our total health and happiness is, OURSELVES. That’s right, it’s true. Our negative mindset, often unconscious, prevents us from dealing positively with stress, disease and unhappiness, which blocks us from achieving our best possible life.
Dr. Grayson, is a cutting edge mind/body/spirit psychologist who began his practice as a psychoanalyst. He is a pioneer in spirituality based mind body energy psychology and the founder of the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in New York. He draws upon quantum physics, neuropsychology, the major psychotherapies, subtle energies and new “power therapies” whch include EMDR, EFT and TFT in his practice. He created Synergetic Therapy and is the author of Mindful Loving and The New Physics of Love and tonight, we are very fortunate because he is here to discuss his new book, Use Your Mind to Heal Your Body.
