NLP Podcast Episode 18: Do the New York Knicks Still Belong to Carmelo Anthony?

    in Basketball

With the fourth pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, the New York Knicks selected Kristaps Porzingis to an array of boos, and quietly reinvented their team in the process. Competing for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, the No Look Pass Podcast is curious what the team that occupies MSG has to offer to the playoff picture. Is Arron Afflalo this generations Jamal Crawford? Can Three Six Latvia kill a White Walker? Should the Knicks consider moving Carmelo Anthony?

With the trade deadline approaching, the fellas will also build on their segment from last week, where they proposed a few teams that should make a move, and provide a couple of hypothetical trades with the help of the almighty trade machine.

Over and Back: A Very Kobe Christmas

    in Basketball

Jason Mann and Rich Kraetsch celebrate Christmas and the career of Kobe Bryant with a very special episode of the Over and Back Classic NBA podcast called “A VERY KOBE CHRISTMAS.” Jason and Rich provide commentary while watching Kobe’s 61-point performance vs. the Knicks on Feb. 2, 2009, in Madison Square Garden. They also make it a drinking game, taking a gulp of beer every time Kobe takes a shot. During the episode, Jason and Rich tackle many, many topics, including how the Lakers became a juggernaut with the addition of Pau Gasol, the enigma of Lamar Odom, Derek Fisher’s steady veteran leadership, the rise of Trevor Ariza, Luke Walton’s steadiness, and the beginning of the end for Vladimir Radmanovic on the Lakers. They also discuss the rebuilding 2008-09 New York Knicks with new leadership from Mike D’Antoni and Donnie Walsh, Chris Duhon’s career season, Al Harrington’s license to shoot, David Lee’s leap, Jared Jeffries’ perpetual disappointment, the well-traveled Quentin Richardson, future Nuggets centerpieces Wilson Chandler and Danilo Galinari, the puzzling Tim Thomas, and Nate Robinson being Nate Robinson. Jason and Rich also make many detours of conversation, including their choices for the best wrestling match in Madison Square Garden history. If you’d like to follow along with Jason and Rich, you can check out the game on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8edPRyyZCA&list=PL2D89F24437CF907F

Your family is in danger of displacement.  Redeveliopment is designed to move you out and someone else in. Gentrification they call it when your community is changed based on the wealthy taking over and moving you out.  Rockaway Beach, NY is an example of this happening and families were broken and torn apart.  Downtown Brooklyn, is likewise a great example of raising rents beyond the ability of the established communiity to pay. Brownstones buildings moving from $200,000 to buy and increased to one million dollars...

    in Basketball

What a week.  It was the punch heard round the world, and the LA Clippers are right back where they seem to always land…. the embarrassment of the league.  The reality is this sort of incident is not that uncommon, but doesn’t usually get out.  It has brought up some interesting conversation, including the possibility of Griffin being traded.

We continue to talk about the ever-impressing Golden State Warriors, and the woeful state of the LA Lakers.  Just another week in the 2015-2016 season.  Pat & Awall will continue to push their secret Canadian agenda of the Toronto Raptors by sharing another Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan story.

Plus we have our regular tweet of the week, this week in NBA history, and Uber facts.

Join us this week for NBA 4 Life 114.

Governor cuomo proposed using his budget surplus to fund a $154 Billion dollars spending plan that includes $2.1 billion increase in school funding, and the legacy building construction projects.  But what about those who are hungry and unemployed? He states that he has kept state spending under a 2 percent cap, which allows him now go wild. He is cashing in on $9.3 billion in Federal aid and much $$$ Sandy revenue. He stated he would authorize mixed martial arts matches in the state as a tax revenue producer. He underscored his announcement proposing billions in overhauling Penn Station, A third rail for the long Island Railroad and a possible tunnel from Long Island to Westchester, the Bronx, or Connecticut, a billion on Jacob Javits changes, and still no word on increased tolls on the Tappanzee Bridge.  I guess he wants to be another Trump.  Tune in a hear all about it on blogtalkradio.com /don-durant
