Danielle Murphy is a mildly autistic disabled adult. She lived with her aunt, Nancy Vallone, in Arizona. Nancy provided the best of care and medical treatment for Danielle and even moved to Ohio so Danielle could receive treatment from a the Cleveland Clinic Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. Shortly after the move, the Ohio’s Advocacy and Protective Services Agency (APSI) took control of Danielle’s case. They placed Danielle in a group home where she has been physically and sexually abused. APSI denies Danielle the treatment that Nancy moved to Ohio to receive. Worst of all, APSI isolates Danielle from receiving any visitors, including her Aunt Nancy.
In this episode, Nancy shares how she left a corporate career to start a Day Spa, and how she leveraged e-Commerce technology to build Spa Boutique to a million+ dollar company.
An entrepreneurial spirit, Nancy has been involved with esthetics for the past 10 years, since opening her first Day Spa in 2003. Nancy believes everyone deserves to feel beautiful and is committed to developing Spa Boutique into the Premier Beauty and Wellness Store in Canada. Nancy enjoys the personal freedom of running her own company as she can strategize and quickly implement her ideas.
This week on The Shift we're talking with teen novelist Nancy Rue. The issue she addresses in her latest novel, So Not Okay, is bullying in schools. Her novel is written for teenagers to see through the viewpoint of a child being bullied. We have all been there when we were growing up, but what we assumed at one point in our lives to be harmless actually torments young kids so much that they end their lives. Many people don't realize the severity of the situation and should become more aware of how their children behave towards others.
We'll discuss the issue of human kindness, how we can stop bullying and how to deal with bullying. Help us push this movement forward and stop this once and for all. Call in and ask your questions. We're also giving away a couple copies of the book to share with your teen. Follow us on Twitter @ShiftWithSkip or on Facebook here. #bullying #sonotokay
Today Nancy Varner will share her testimony. Born and raised in Charleston South Carolina Nancy and her family started attending North Charleston United Methodist Church when she was 11. She was involved in their Youth Fellowship and singing in the youth choir. While at North Charleston she met, fell in love, and married Gregg. They’ve been married for nearly 39 years. Gregg pastors Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Lydia, South Carolina, a congregation they love very much.
Nancy originally shared this message when Gregg attended an Annual Conference a few years ago. The congregation’s response was encouraging and they told others. So Nancy humbly began sharing this message with about twenty five churches including women’s groups.
About a year ago, through God's guidance that at first glance would appear to be coincidence, Nancy found Kenneth and John’s Tribulation Now ministry and these SDG Bible studies. Then the Lord “nudged” her to change up the end of this message as her eyes were opened to the fact that we are right on the precipice of Jesus’ soon return. This knowledge drove Nancy back to her first love of the Lord like a freight train, filling her with a love and compassion for the lost.
Now Nancy has a burning in her heart to tell all who will listen about the long-suffering grace of God and how He patiently waited on her to return to Him like the prodigal son. Our Father longs for a love relationship with each one of us and what He did for Nancy He will do for you!
Their ministry has brought joys and blessing beyond all Gregg and Nancy could ever ask or imagine and she’s forever grateful to Gregg for encouraging her to share this message of salvation and hope. Nancy also thanks Pastor Tom Evatt and North Charleston United Methodist Church and of course God for the strong Christian foundation they provided her.

During the turbulent years of the Civil War, three young people struggle to follow their dreams as the war devastates their homeland and their way of life in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Hannah Yeager works hard on her family’s farm and teaches young children in a nearby school. She and her parents remain loyal to the Union. Secretly her fourteen-year-old heart thrills to romantic literature. She dreams that someday she will find a true love. When she does, he is a handsome Confederate colonel. The strong female character of Hannah will appeal to girls who often see the Civil War as all about the boys.
