Today my guest is Bob Dietrich. Bob is the owner of Energy Efficiency Consultants, which is an energy conservation consulting company that specializes in helping businesses permanently reduce their energy bills. He’s a member of San Diego Toastmasters where he took his club from 3 members in 2001 to the highest performing club in District 5. Bob’s in the process of writing a book onhow to use Toastmasters and the Toastmsters manuals to prepare yourself to be a public speaker. He’s currently the chairman the D5 Speakers Bureau. Bob is also the Chairman of the upcoming Leadership and Communication Expo, or as we call it LACE. I’ve been a Toastmaster for a long time and I always knew this event as TLI. Bob is the creator of the new, and I must say, fabulous format now known as LACE. I hope to see you at LACE, June 29th. ~Debra Simpson

Dr. Beth Haney earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in 2010, her Master of Science degree in Nursing in 2000 and prior to that in 1994, her Bachelor's degree in Nursing, both from Loma Linda University. She has worked in urgent care and family practice as an advanced practice nurse practitioner since 2000 and entered the aesthetics industry in 2002.Dr. Haney currently serves on the Board of Directors as President of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners (CANP). Beth has held leadership positions in CANP for over 7 years, both at local and state levels. She is a frequent speaker at professional conferences and events locally and internationally and has done many presentations on aesthetic practice, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Guest Interview with Lawrence Matsuda
Lawrence Matsuda was born in the Minidoka, Idaho War Concentration Center during World War II. Matsuda has a Ph.D. in education from the University of Washington and was: a secondary teacher, university counselor, state level administrator, school principal, assistant superintendent, educational consultant, and visiting professor at Seattle University. In 2005 he and two SU colleagues co-edited the book Community and difference: teaching, pluralism and social justice, Peter Lang Publishing, New York. It won the 2006 National Association of Multicultural Education Phillip Chinn Book Award. In July of 2010 his book of poetry entitled, A Cold Wind from Idaho was published by Black Lawrence Press in New York. His poems appear in Ambush Review, Raven Chronicles, New Orleans Review, Floating Bridge Review, Black Lawrence Press website, Poets Against the War website, Malpais Review, Plumepoetry, Seattle Journal for Social Justice and Cerise Press. His volunteer experiences include: President University of Washington Alumni Association Board of Trustees, Co-founder Multi-cultural Alumni Partnership, Washington State Liquor Board Wine Tasting Committee member, Chair of the Seattle University Japanese American Remembrance Garden, and trustee for Cornish College of the Arts.
