Dr. Monique Y. Wells is a multipreneur – she’s a preclinical safety professional, productivity expert, writer and editor, speaker, and travel professional. Monique began her professional life as a veterinary pathologist and toxicologist – a field that has provided her with the opportunity to travel the world. She moved to Paris 21 years ago to pursue this activity and after 10 years of working in corporate France, she launched a consultancy in preclinical safety assessment. She continues to operate this business today. To share their burning passion for the city of Paris with Anglophone travelers, Monique and her husband launched the travel planning service Discover Paris! in 1999. Today they specialize in private, guided walking tours and activities featuring African Diaspora Paris and gourmet Paris. They have also created a few downloadable walking tours. As a result of the recession of 2008-2009, Monique began training and mentoring her preclinical safety colleagues in productivity. She progressively opened new niche markets for this service, including travel professionals and women solopreneurs, and is currently focused on serving solopreneurs who have built 6-figure and 7-figure businesses. Monique speaks on all of the above topics at venues across the globe. She is the author of numerous print and e-books, book chapters, and articles on these topics, and also writes two blogs. Her most recent achievement is being selected as a productivity blogger for Huffington Post. For more information about Monique’s productivity activities, visit: http://gettingoveroverwhelm.com. A born treasure hunter with a gypsy soul I dreamed of faraway places I would go to as a child. Walking barefoot most days except when I was lucky enough to go to the city dump with my grandpa, you had to wear shoes there. I loved digging through the tossed items looking for treasure and on some days we did find some, like the day grandpa found a brand new watch from the local jewelry store’s trash.
Little did I know that later I would be digging through treasures I would find in the smalls stalls and shops in Jakarta Indonesia, Karachi and Islamabad Pakistan or the Blue Suks of Sharjah in the UAE. Or that one day I would be standing in front of the Sphinx then yelling at a local who was smoking in a tomb and cared so little for the fact that it was still there. Not even in my daydreams did I see myself walking the streets of Katmandu and get blessed by a Hindu priest who put red paint on my forehead and the top of my head gave me a dead flower and just smiled at me. I walked blisters on my feet in Rome, sat on stone seats in Pompeii and marveled at what was left and what was gone. I cried at the feet of David and wanted to badly to be able to go back in time for just one moment to be there and watch his creation. I have walked the beaches of Honolulu, Perth, Bali, Penang, Phuket, Singapore and rode the street cars of San Francisco. I believe dreams come true.
