    A legislatively created conflict of the MMMA finds itself in the spotlight. Several trial court judges throughout the state have made findings that the transport law conflicts with the MMMA ultimately leading to one Judge requesting an opinion from the attorney general. Film Maker, Video Journalist Eric VanDussen will be calling in and Attorney David Rudoi will join us in the studio to offer their thoughts. 


     


    Administrative Rule Changes Hearings 


    Once again attempts to amend the administrative rules of the MMMA went on in Lansing. Josey Scoggin testified before the committee and will join us to report her thoughts and insight to the legislative response. 


                


    Committee Hearing on Forfeiture Reform Bill requiring more reporting and accountability. Jeff Frazier and Charmie Gholson, Komorn Law were present and offered oral and written testimony in support of HB 4914- The SWAT Reporting Bill, which simply mandates these highly specialized and dangerous forces report on their activity. Charme Gholson will be joining us as well as Attorney Jeff Frazer who is in the Gallipolis but will be in the studio in spirit to discuss and sing.

    Tonight- Medical marijuana bills 4271 and 5104 pertaining to distribution centers and marijuana edibles and concentrates, passed the MI House of Representatives today by a huge margin, sending the bills to the Senate with some momentum. Some amendments were made to both bills, just prior to passage. What did it take to get these bills passed with such heavy support, and how do they look movng over to the Senate for consideration?


     


    Robin Schneider, the Legislative Chairwoman for the National Patients Rights Association, the organization working directly with a lobbyist in the MI legislature on behalf of the patient friendly bills 4271 and 5104 will join us along with Representative Callton who introduced HB 4271 The Provisioning Centers Act, as well as Chris Lindsey who is Michigan's liaison from the Marijuana Policy Project.


     


    MI chapter of The Human Solution chapter will offer a report of upcoming court dates involving defendants in need of support.

    Tonight- The Michigan House Judiciary Committee heard testimony today on medical marijuana bills HB4271, HB5104, and SB 660 in preparation for a second hearing in which the bills are expected to be voted on Tuesday Dec 10. SB 660 would allow large commercial cannabis gardens which would be used as supply to be distributed through pharmacies. HB 4271 a The Provisioning Centers Act would allow local governments to accept or reject testing labs and distribution centers which would be supplied by the existing caregiver system, and HB5104 would allow for concentrated and edible forms of medical cannabis. HB5104 was introduced by Rep Kowall in response to a court ruling in People v Carruthers that determined that only the leaf and flower are protected forms of medicine under the Act.

    Robin Schneider Legislative Liaison for the National Patients’ Rights Association, will join us to discuss the recent move forward of patient friendly bills 4271 and 5104 as they were voted out of committee and are expected to be considered on the Senate floor in September.


    We will also discuss the proposed amendments to the Administrative Rules of the MMMA program with Veteran and activist Dakota Blue Serna who will also be sitting on the Veterans' discussion panel for the High Times Cannabis Cup event, coming to Clio, MI, later this month.


    We will also discuss the recently released Americans for Safe Access report card for each of the 34 states with some kind of state wide medical marijuana law. The highest grade given was a B and Michigan scored a C-.

    Tonight- Victory in Oak Park! Safer Michigan Coalition holds a fundraiser tonight at Dominick's on Monroe St in Ann Arbor starting at 7:30. Cities and townships around the state are still creating and enforcing restrictive ordinances on medical marijuana activity, even in light of the Michigan State Supreme Court ruling in Ter Beek v Wyoming, relying on "Footnote 9" of the decision, and the National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA) comes to town.


     


    Rick and Jamie will be attending and acting as roving reporters at the fundraiser for Safer Mich tonight. Tonight's event is expected to be attended by supporters, advocates, legal experts, politicians and members of the national organization NCIA.


     


    We will hear from many of the attendees tonight about the local efforts to decriminalize and the efforts of some local governments to create or maintain prohibitions on medical marijuana activity.


     


    Calling in will be activist and head of the Northern Lights Provision Center John Wells to discuss the policy in Greenwood Twp and Victor "Vicious" Hansen, activist, major supporter and contributor to The Human Solution, former radio show host, will discuss his situation with Delhi Twp and their prohibitive policies.

    The CDC's last report in 2010 showed that 1 in 42 male and 1 in 189 female children born are diagnosed with autism.The research suggests that cannabis has therapeutic and palliative relief for the traditional symptoms and conditions associated with autism. . The MMMA, Komorn Law, Director of Research Joe Stone, Chad Carr, Dr. Christian Bogner and Dr. Harry Chugani plan to refile the petition with the New Conditions panel seeking the addition of autism to the list of condition in the MMMA.  Calling in to join the discussion will be: Director of Research Joe Stone, Dr. Christian Bogner and parents of autistic children who support cannabis as a treatment method.
