MMASucka Radio - Episode 2 w/ Martin "The Hitman" Kampman

    in MMA

On MMASucka Radio's first LIVE show, we will feature UFC 109 discussion and have a great live guest. Today's Guest is UFC Welterweight Fighter Martin "The Hitman" Kampmann. Martin Kampmann hails from Aarhus, Denmark. As a kid he liked Bloodsport and wanted to learn how to fly through the air and do ninja moves like they do in the movies. So he took up Karate at age 14. From Karate he moved to Thai boxing and began competing both in Thai and Western boxing as an amateur. In 2000 Martin started training in Submission Wrestling with Shooters MMA (a major Martial Arts organization in Europe). Martin began fighting as an amateur in Shooters MMA where he compiled a record of 8-1. He turned pro in 2003 while in college. It was during this time that a Danish MMA reporter gave him the nickname “Hitman”. The name stuck. In July 2006 he took a trip to the U.S. to hang with buddy Mike Pyle and train with Team Couture. While in the U.S. the WFA offered him a fight on two days notice. Martin said yes and stopped Edwin Aguilar in the first round due to punches. The UFC took notice and offered him a three-fight deal. The first fight was set for the day he was set to fly back to Denmark. Martin extended his ticket and made his UFC debut (while still an engineering student) on Ultimate Fight Night 6 where he made Crafton Wallace tap to a rear naked choke midway into round one. Martin has wins over Thales Leites, Drew McFedries, Jorge Rivera, Alexandre Barros, Carlos Condit and Jacob Volkmann. His next fight is against Muay Thai specialist and BJJ Brown Belt Ben Saunders.

    in MMA

He was scheduled to fight fellow Team Forrest member Cale Yarbrough at the TUF 7 finale. However, Tim admitted to using the prescription drug Adderall five days prior to the event; Adderall is a drug banned by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. A drug test was performed and the prescription drug was still in Tim's system. This caused in the match to be cancelled.
As Tim admitted to the recent use of the drug and he did not fight, there was no disciplinary action taken against him; his bout with Yarbrough was rescheduled for the UFC's July 19 show, UFC: Silva vs. Irvin. This time the match did happen and Tim won by TKO at 1:54 of round 1. Tim took on Nate Loughran at UFC: Fight For The Troops, Tim beat Loughran, due to Loughran withdrawing at the end of round two.
His next fight would be against Nick Catone at UFC Fight Night: Condit vs. Kampmann which he won by Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 3:45 of round 2, giving him his third consecutive victory in the UFC.

Credeur was scheduled to face Mike Massenzio at UFC Fight Night 20, but was replaced by UFC newcomer Gerald Harris after being forced off the card with an injury.

MMASucka Radio - Episode 5 w/ Frank "The Answer" Edgar

    in MMA

This weeks episode we have a huge guest.. None other than number one contender Frank "The Answer" Edgar
Edgar entered his first mixed martial arts fight with only a few weeks of training outside of his wrestling background. Edgar originally trained with Rob Guarino of Rhino Fight Team, but today he is part of the Gracie system under Ricardo Almeida in Hamilton, New Jersey. Since 7th Grade Edgar has wrestled with Steve Rivera at Elite Wrestling NJ in Jackson, New Jersey.
Edgar amassed a 5–0 record before trying out for the Ultimate Fighter Season one. Edgar tried out in front of Dana White and Joe Silva but was not selected to be on the show. However, a month later the UFC contacted Edgar and asked if he would accept a fight with fellow undefeated fighter Tyson Griffin at UFC 67. Griffin caught Edgar in a deep kneebar at the end of the fight, but Edgar refused to tap and lasted out the remainder of the round to win by unanimous decision. He and Griffin earned Fight of the Night and the fight has been frequently rebroadcast on UFC Unleashed.
Edgar followed up with a first-round TKO victory over Mark Bocek at UFC 73. He next made his main card debut at UFC 78 against veteran fighter Spencer Fisher and won via unanimous decision.
Edgar suffered his first loss at UFC Fight Night 13 against Gray Maynard. Though the underdog, Maynard used his size and wrestling skill to overpower Edgar en route to a unanimous decision. Edgar rebounded with another Fight of the Night victory against Hermes Franca at UFC: Silva vs. Irvin. Edgar then defeated former UFC Lightweight champion Sean Sherk, outworking him all three rounds to earn the unanimous decision victory over the stronger and heavier fighter.
Matt Veach has been named as Pellegrino's replacement, moving up from the undercard bout. Frankie Edgar won via Rear Naked Choke at 2 minutes and 22 seconds into the 2nd round.
Edgar is scheduled to face B.J. Penn for the UFC Lightweight Championship on April 10, 2010 at UFC 112.
