    JUNTO SHOES

    in Lifestyle

This week please join Frankie Picasso on The Good Radio Network this Thursday, January 22 at 1:00 pm est.when her guest is Mauricio Laniado, Founder of Juntos Shoes, a social fashion company whose motto is Look Good, Do Good!

Mauricio is a young social entrepreneur who has reached back to his heritage and taken the lowly El Zapato de Lona, the Ecuadorian street shoe , worn by the working class in  cities like Guayaquil, Ecuador  ( where he was born) and turned it into a fashion statement for all. This shoe is  an iconic part of the Ecuadoran landscape - part functional necessity, part social signifier.

Juntos embraces this heritage and brings it to you, refining and repurposing the design while preserving everything that makes the shoe, the shoe.

That’s why there is a  map of Ecuador on the inside of every pair, so one never forgets where they came from.

It’s also why for every pair sold, Juntos donates an education pack filled with crucial school supplies to a local child in Ecuador –as  a small way of giving back to the places wherehe found  inspiration. So far 1000 packs have been given out to students. The bright yellow bag with the Juntos logo is also funtional as well as beautiful.

I don't think we have anything to worry about if our future includes young Entrepreneuers like Mauricio Lanidades.

For Mauricio and his company..that is what they call- a real  ethical footprint.

    Quikiks: Shoes That Are Hands-free

    in Health

Today's special guest is Quikiks Founder Steve Kaufman.

So, what exactly is Quikiks? For people with arthritis or anyone who struggles with a task as simple as putting on shoes, the Quikiks Step-in-Go Shoe System offers a hands-free solution. The shoes easily open and close using hinges and magnets. Simply step into the shoes for a secure fit and strike the back of your heel to remove. No need to bother with laces or Velcro. How easy is that?!

Listen in to our conversation with Steve about Quikiks.

    The Truth about Relationships

    in Religion

For as long as I can remember, relationships have always ended bad and as a matter of fact those who wanted to end a relationship would always do so at that time.  For some the ending had to be created in order to end it.  The sad part of this entire exercise is that it was never necessary and there is a more rational reason but one many refuse to acknowledge and all will have a major problem with.

Not that any relationships are like any of these examples but let’s use them anyway to possibly help you better come to terms with why relationships must not only end but is necessary for them to end.  When you feel it is time to purchase a new car, you travel down to the automotive dealer pick out your next vehicle and either trade the other one in or sell it to another owner.  When you out grow your clothes you pass them down to another or give them away to charity.  When you have out grown your shoes, you do the same with them as well as anything else.  As you age your taste for certain foods change and you miss it but it is nothing you must have to survive.  In other words, you outgrow your favorite suit, best fitting dress, well-worn shoes and most dependable vehicle, when these stages come, you now see it as a good thing to move on.  The same can be said about relationships.
