Mindful Shift - a conversation with Jennifer Iacovelli

    in Spirituality

Today I am so excited to be joined by author Jennifer Iacovelli who wrote the beautiful  Simple Giving - Easy Ways to Give Every Day - 40 Ideas to Make Your World a Better Place.  I recieved this book in the mail right after getting back from the 2015 Water Conference (more on that later!).  It was the perfect gift and way to restart my program.  I started Mindful Shift after taking a leadership course from Dr. Riane Eislers Caring Economics Program.  It got me to focus on what I really wanted to do and how to make a difference from a heart based place.  The phrase 'do what you love and find a way to get paid for it', or some versions of this, always sounds slightly off to me.  I am looking forward to talking to Jennifer about this and so much more!   Jennifer is more than a writer, she is a speaker and consultant.  She has worked in the nonprofit sector, handling communications and fund-raising, for more than ten years and writes about philanthropy on her blogs Another Jennifer and Simple Giving Labs.  As chief engagement officer of the Another Jennifer Writing Lab, Jennifer helps entrepreneurs, bloggers and nonprofits tell their story.  She writes for Mom Bloggers for Social Good as part of the Global Team of 200 and is a regular contributor to World Moms Blog and HuffPost Divorce.  Jennifer is also contributing author of the book The Mother of All Meltdowns.  Her work has been featured on GOOD, BlogHer, USAID Impact, Feed the Future, and the PSI Impact Blog.  She is based in Brunswick, Maine.  That is awesome!   I am looking forward to this!!   For more info check out Jennifers website at simplegivinglab.com or her book at tarcherbooks.com.   Peace and sparkles, Andrea

    Being Mindful

    in Spirituality

What is the value of living mindully? How does one accomplish being mindful? Are you truly aware that it is up to us to direct our minds and not have our minds direct us. It is a Zen and Tibetan tradition to know what the mind is doing in all moments of our lives. Our minds are the very thing that creates our very experiences. This is why it is said that we attract to us what we are not what we want. This occurs because we do not consciouslyoperate our minds or thoughts. More times than not we let our minds tell us what to do instead of us telling our minds. Buddha stated that it is ok to think but do not identify with what you are thinking. By so doing one indeed does become mindful. We all are our own writers and producers of our lives yet we do not necessarrily own what we write. We write our own script with our minds. Being mindful is knowing what you are thinking. It is not written any where that we have to think negatively. Life is simply an expereince that we bring to ourselves constatnly. Join Liara and Steven for another great show on being not simply thinking. Call and join in on the conversation 718-664-9735 is the number share your thoughts and ideas on being mindful.

A Theory of Parenting - Rockefeller Center

    in Current Events

Welcome to A Theory of Parenting on Blogtalkradio.com

    My name is Tammi Joyner

I am your Host for the Show

Today we are live from Rockefeller Center in NYc

Throughout the year, the Rockefeller Center Channel Gardens blooms in uniquely themed plant installations that transform with the seasons.

Visit the Channel Gardens to see the April Showers installation on display from April 20 through May 31.

Designed specifically for Rockefeller Plaza, Masks (Pentagon) consists of five masks ranging in height from 14.5 to 16.5 feet, each of which reflects a different approach to the stylized representation of the human face, from the clearly recognizable to the highly abstracted.

The five masks, which were cast from clay in industrial-strength synthetic plaster, stand on a stepped base made from massive beams of unfinished redwood. The back of each element of the sculpture reveals the artists method of construction – a grid-like armature of rebar inlaid with hemp and plaster.

Rockefeller Center is home to a remarkable collection of art deco motifs and sculptures signifying man’s development in spirit, science, industry and more.

A Theory of Parenting - Photos in NYC for A Theory of Jewel 3

    in Fashion

    June 29, 2015

Welcome to A Theory of Parenting on Blogtalkradio.com

    My name is Tammi Joyner

I am your Host for the Show

Today we are doing a Photo Shoot

What is unique about the Shoot is that we are shooting pieces of jewelry in Manhattan NY

Yes, we are planning another book - A theory of Jewel 3

So, I decided to take snapshots of our jewel around the city of NYC

After Marquels graduation I thought it would be great to photo the jewelry wore to graduation

Those will be featured in our new book - the book will be available at blurb.com

    www.wikipedia.com says:

A photo shoot is generally used in the fashion or glamour  industry, whereby a model poses for a photographer at a studio where multiple photos are taken to find the best ones for the required brief. The "model" is not always a person, however; for instance, advertising in print often requires photographic depiction of advertised goods, and food can be the subject of magazine articles (often in very elaborate presentations).
