Before we go to that place though, I talk about whatever's on my mind. I've learned over the years that thinking alone never solves problems, but talking about them outloud often does. The recent Coachella Valley Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast honored the memory of this American hero & work to strengthen coalitions among the diverse community organizations that work toward equality in the Coachella Valley.
The keynote speaker was Judge Vaughn Walker who, on August 4, 2010, ruled that Proposition 8 was unconstitutional “under both the Due Process and Equal Protection Clauses” of the United States Constitution and prohibited its enforcement. The rest is history in the making.

Just how many snakes are there in North America? Join the Center For Snake Conservation's Snake Count and help find out. Talkupy with Annie Lindstrom welcomes Cameron Young, founder and executive director of the Center for Snake Conservation, to the show on Tuesday, May 21 at 11 am Eastern time. The nationwide Snake Count will include some International participants. It takes place from May 18 - 27. Also helping to facilitate the study is Project Noah, the world's leading science app. The Snake Count is a Citizen Science Program that enables anyone who wants to join in to help map and track snake distribution across North America. Most parents take their kids to the baseball game or on a bike ride for fun. These parents share a love of frogs and snakes with their kids. Talkupy with Annie Lindstrom welcomes Deborah and Avalon Theisen, and Kevin and Ryan Urbanek to the show on Thursday, April 18 at 11 am Eastern Time. Deborah and 12-year-old Avalon work together on Conserve It Forward, an organization that educates people around the world about frogs and snakes. New York based writer and designer form publishing company to promote diversity in children’s books. New York - Ps&Qs Inc. (psnqs.com), a New York-based publishing company created by writer/illustrator duo, Qimmah Saafir and Pope Phoenix, will celebrate the release of their new children's book, Charlie & His Imaginary Friend, on December 16th, 4pm at Bankstreet Books on Broadway and 112th Street in New York City. Saafir, the book’s author, along with Phoenix successfully funded the production of the book and the creation of Ps&Qs Inc. through a KickStarter campaign during the summer of 2012. Their aim is to produce books that better reflect the world’s diversity while promoting the use of magination and creativity. The idea was birthed in a Barnes & Noble Starbucks after the longtime friends flipped through a pile of children’s literature and noticed a lack of diversity in the books’ characters. “We believe children connect more with a story’s lesson if they are able to relate to its characters. Much in the way you look for yourself first in a group photo,” explains Ps&Qs co-founder and author, Qimmah Saafir. “If a child sees someone who resembles him or her, he or she can get more from the experience. There are so many types of children in the world; we hope to reflect that diversity with our books.”
