The Sports Omnivore returns after a two-week break to dig into the role of sports journalism in the modern age. A series of recent events has host Matt Gajtka pondering the responsibilities of sports media, whether there is crossover into so-called "hard news" or the topic remains solely in the athletic realm. Among other things, Matt looks at the slow-to-develop coverage of the high school football rape controversy in Steubenville, Ohio, and how the team's elevated position in the town factored in. After that, Gajtka wonders what, if any, acknowledgement is appropriate in sports media when a tragedy such as the one in Newtown, Conn., occurs. He also analyzes the rift forming between popular Pittsburgh media personalities and more detached analysts when it comes to the Pirates.

How many roles have you taken on? Do you tell anyone? How many definitions you do you have? Parent, boss, lover, employee, writer, singer, athlete, child …? How many rules accompany each role? In order to play the roles, what characters do you play? What about looking right? … What costumes do you have? And what are the images created by all of that? How much of that do you try to keep secret? With all these secrets, how much of you do you have to eliminate? And, how much of your image do you not change to validate other people’s points of view?
What if there was another way? What if you could be you … regardless of what else occurs? What if you didn’t give yourself away, or become what people want you to become? What if you could be you?
Join Anne and Ricky as they take a look at stepping beyond the need to protect some part of you … and into the space of simply being you!

Do the upset residents in the City of Atlanta have a reason to be upset? Once our 15-minute Ferris wheel ride is over we’ll dive into our main topic, relationship roles. Is it still the woman’s responsibility to maintain the home? Is it ok for a man to be a house-husband? Do you still cling to traditional relationship roles or do you prefer something more modern?

If it’s more than 30 miles an hour, I know I’m going to either get knocked off my bike (which will hurt) or I will be riding into a headwind and it will be like climbing up to the top of Pike’s Peak. So I have a recipe that texts me when the wind is blowing more than 20 mph and it also tells me from which direction.
