    Interview with Jake Mathews

    in Music

JAKE MATHEWS was born and raised in a northern Ontario town immortalized by Stompin’ Tom Connors for its wild Saturday nights. He couldn’t have known it then, but one of his early memories foretells his country music future.

“When I was 14, I traveled to Canada’s Wonderland in Toronto and entered this booth where you could record the song of your choice,” recalls the laid back Sudbury-born singer and songwriter. “I sang Randy Travis’ song "I Told You So" and after I recorded it, they played it over the loudspeaker while I hung around with my friends.”

Now calling Calgary home for the past 18 years, Jake has enjoyed great success at radio with numerous top 20 hits such as “If I Had It My Way”, “Beer Necessities”, “Kings For A Day”, “Time After Time”, “I’m Gone” as well as others - and has received several Canadian Country Music Award nominations.

Jake has had over 50 of his songs recorded by artists in Canada and the US. Most recent cuts include 2 songs on Gord Bamford’s current album Country Junkie and 1 song on Autumn Hill’s current album Favourite Mistake.

Following up his latest Top 20 hit “Beer Necessities" and the fan favourite "In Our Own Backyard", Jake just released “Road And The Radio” to country radio in Canada and iTunes.

Jake is currently finishing up his 4th studio album which is set to be released in the spring of 2015.

Chris Mathews and Joe agree? - TSA blows it? - Hillary's thin skin!

    in Politics

Hr1  Never thought I'd agree with Hardball host Chris Matthews, but I'm with him on the Syrian refugees!

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly is off on the Syrian refugee issue. Just because helping those in need is the Christian thing to do, doesn't mean we should indiscriminately allow refugees entry to the US.

TSA investigation finds 73 workers on US's terror watch list. Govt agency at it's finest.

Hr2    Like a true thug, Hillary's camp threatens Laugh Factory over video roast. But SNL is ok? Why is that? Further evidence that Democrats seriously have NO sense of humor.

Jeff Brown, with Learn for Life Charter schools, says the charter school movement is about giving kids opportunities. Not just college bound kids, but also career education programs that provide certifications for employment right out of high school.

Are you ready to confront your white privilege? Univ. of Vermont can help you with that. Don't worry, it's a safe space. Racism at it's finest!

Hr3   Michael Hausam joins Joe to discuss issues of the day from a Libertarian point of view.

Occidental college students want NO police on campus and security guards can look like police or wear bullet proof vests!  are they real!

As always, we'll be covering current events, including those weird news items that you may not have heard or read in the mainstream media accounts. Be sure to tune in!

Minority themed housing at Berkeley will there be sombreros on the wall?

The BYGP Locker Room Show (Rishard Mathews)

    in Football

Join us tonight, in the BYGP Locker Room, as we host Miami Dolphins wide receiver, Rishard Mathews! Rishard, is one of the leagues up-and-coming stars, and he is expected to do big things this year on the football field.

But not every journey is as easy as it seems. Rishard went to the university of Nevada, after playing Junior College football in Bakersfield. After two stellar seasons at the university of Nevada, catching passes from the 49ers Colin Kapernick, most assumed that Rishard would be a first day draft pick, but unfortuantely that was not the case.

Rishard was drafted in the seventh round, by the Miami Dolphins, and has fought hard for a spot on the team. Rishard is a great example of how hard work and belief payoff. Tune in tonight and find out how he has created success for himself.

Sheila Mathews: The right to refuse psychiatric services

    in Family

Sheila Mathews, co-founder the organization AbleChild joins us to talk about the labeling and drugging of children and the Hatch Amendment meant to protect them from this kind of abuse.  Sheila will join the show at 7:45 pm CST.

After Sheila Matthews had her own personal experience with coercion by the education system to label and drug her child, she teamed up with another mother, Patricia Weathers, to found the non-profit organization AbleChild – a national parent’s rights organization, dedicated to protecting fully informed consent and the right to refuse psychiatric services.

Ms. Matthews is a resident of Connecticut and in 2001 she was the first mother to successfully testify on behalf of the first state law in the United States prohibiting school personnel from recommending psychotropic drugs to parents. She continues nationwide participation in conferences and seminars and testifies on the federal level on behalf of AbleChild and families who need AbleChild services.

She has been featured on a number of high profile media outlets, including CNN, FOX, Time Magazine as well as numerous radio stations throughout the country.
