Trying to preserve the largely ignored original analog sound of the old 78 records, plus learn some music history along the way
According to Wikipedia Martha Tilton (November 14, 1915 - December 8, 2006) was an American popular singer during America's swing era and traditional pop period. She is best known for her 1939 recording of "And The Angels Sings" with BennyGoodman.
Tilton had a major success from 1942 to 1949 as one of the first artists to record for Capitol Records .
Among her biggest hits as a solo artist were "I'LL Walk Alone ", a wartime ballad which rose to #4 on the charts in 1944; "I Should Care" and "A Stranger in Town," which both peaked at #10 in 1945; and three in 1947
Join Joe Enroughty, Jeff Kleb, Alex Butler, and Jeffry Sanford on Monday, January 26th, 2015 at 7 PM Eastern, as they welcome Farm Freedome advocate Martha Boneta. Martha owns a farm in Northern Virginia and will speak to us about the farm freedom movement and her work for farmer's rights. She will also discuss the upcoming Farm Freedom bills put before the Virginia Legislature.
Our call-in number is: (347)-994-2949. Feel free to call in with your questions or thoughts.
Martha comes forth today talking about what brought her into the passion for the activism for women's rights, what she has done with that time frame, and what her hopes are for the future.
When the Texas legislature passed the Sonogram Law in 2011, Martha noticed a dangerous trend of stripping Texas women of their constitutional rights. Feeling helpless to fight back, she noticed on social media in early 2012, women's rights rallies being planned in all 50 state capitals. She became part of the core group who planned the rally in Austin on April 28, 2012. Martha was also at the capitol for the special session showdown over HB2 in the summer of 2013. Her 22-year-old daughter, Kayla, testified before the House State Affairs Committee, and her own testimony was read by Senator Wendy Davis during her famous filibuster. The rally in 2012 was the catalyst for her local involvement. Less than three years after her first experience in activism, Martha will be sworn in as president of the Texas Democratic Women of Caldwell County on January 19, 2015. Her goal for the group is to have members connect with the community in an effort to re-engage their neighbors in the political process of electing leaders who will serve the people of this great state.

BLACKWELL returns to radio with their latest single called Welcome To The Country which has already became a huge favorite when the band performs live!
BLACKWELL is a vocal trio led by singer/songwriter Braiden Turner along with singer/songwriter/guitarist Carey Blackwell and brother Dan Blackwell. All three are from musical families. Although Braiden is from Ottawa, much of her life has been spent in the small towns of southern Ontario where her family is from. Carey and Dan are from Northern Ontario where they began their musical lives
“Small town Ontario gives us the perspective of everyday people just like us” says Braiden, “We know how they think, because that’s how we think…and we can relate to them and they can relate to us! We’re all really very proud of our roots".
What else that all three have in common is their love of vocal harmony, original songs, the richness of their roots and their desire to showcase their brand of originality. Carey is also adamant that Braiden be featured out front and that he and Dan play supporting roles.“That’s where we feel comfortable” says Carey, “Braiden is the perfect vocalist and personality to lead BLACKWELL to where we want to go. She’s creative, determined and has so much energy it’s scary!”

In writing his new book "Last Stand: Ted Turner's Quest to Save a Troubled Planet," environmental journalist Todd Wilkinson ventured deeper into the inner space of Ted Turner than any other before him. That inner space reveals a Turner who has largely been unknown to most people. Last Stand has won national critical acclaim and has been widely adopted as an essential reading for conservation organizations, universities, government policy makers, businesses, and book clubs across the country. But as many say, "Last Stand" actually reads like an adventure story.
Todd, who started his career nearly 30 years ago as a violent crime reporter in Chicago, first met Ted in 1992 in Montana where Turner has his flagship ranch, the Flying D, and where Todd lives today. For the book Todd interviewed a number of noteworthy individuals including four Nobel Peace Prize laureates, Jane Fonda, Sen. Sam Nunn and many other major figures. Todd has been on a national tour promoting Last Stand and he joins us today from the wild American West.

Special Guest: John Kane (Mohawk), on the line with me from Seneca Territory in western New York. He is a national radio, TV and print commentator on Native issues.
Show Topic: John's commentary on the Keystone XL Pipeline.
The Canadian company TransCanada hopes to begin building the northern section of an oil pipeline that would trek close to 2,000 miles from Alberta, Canada to the Gulf Coast of Texas. If constructed, the pipeline, known as Keystone XL, will carry one of the world’s dirtiest fuels: tar sands oil. Along its route from Alberta to Texas, this pipeline could devastate ecosystems, pollute water sources and jeopardize public health.
