What it takes to make your marraige one for the ages!
Divorce is rampant among society today. In fact, more than 50% of marriages end in divorce. Within its wake, divorce affects all member of the family unit from husband, wife, in-laws, and children. However, this is the norm. Statistically speaking, most marriages end from the two to seven year mark. The days of marriages lasting for more than that seem to be gone.
For the Christian man or woman, divorce is something that God hates. No if, ands, or buts about it. The Bible is very clear on this issue. In fact, Jesus condemned those who divorced their wives because marriage is for a lifetime. When we say our vows, we tend to say, "For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health...till death do we part." We stand in front of the preacher and made this vow before God and our loved ones (or witnesses for those of us who eloped) and truly and sincerely make this pledge.
But what happens when the relationship falls into the worse category? What if circumstances have us re-thinking if this person who I have pledged myself to is the person I was to marry? When the situation gets dangerous or critical, one begins to wonder...if God hates divorce, then what does that mean for my happiness? The vows we make began to shake. The idea of a long, lasting marriage grows dimmer by the day or the year. Divorce looms, not like an avenging dark angel...but like a beacon of light.
If God hates divorce, and we know He does, how can we say God shouts freedom in divorce?

Random Talk is a product of a long standing friendship, now coming up on 15 years. Recently on one of our weekly walks, Carol and I came up with this brilliant idea. We decided to give people a look into our great discussions and weekly rants.
Friends since 1999, our friendship has taught us patience, forgiveness, support and a host of other lessons. Since then we have both become college graduates, working professionals, business owner, wives, and Carol a mother. We hope to continue our loving friendship for years to come.
