Patrick M. Riley has been an advocate of natural health care since 1978. A graduate of La Salle University in Philadelphia, Patrick pursued studies in macrobiotics, shiatsu and related health subjects at the Kushi Institutes in London, England and Boston.
In 1982 following a brief employment in the natural food industry, Patrick co-founded the Bucks County Macrobiotic Center in Langhorne, PA. It was here at the community level that Patrick refined his skills as a teacher, therapist and counselor. The success of the center was largely due to his enthusiasm for a comprehensive learning experience. The multi-dimensional educational program he helped develop and sponsor attracted countless participants to the center, a dynamic full service macrobiotic facility.
In 1990 he established the Pennsylvania School of Shiatsu, a 350 hour certification program that prepared students for careers in shiatsu therapy. Recognized as an expert in the art of shiatsu, Patrick has presented workshops and seminars throughout the United States and Europe. He currently teaches at the Strengthening Health Institute and The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College. Patrick devotes his professional time to working with individuals assisting them to restore their natural healing ability through the use of diet and common sense living. Patrick maintains offices in Newtown and Philadelphia, PA. He still hopes to publish his first book in the near future.
Jesse interviews Craig Lane – CMT, founder of Health Alkemy, Certified Nutritionist and Planetary Herbalist. He has an exhaustive and ongoing education in nutrition and healing including a B.S. in nutrition from California Polytechnic Institute. Craig completed the Kushi Institute of Macrobiotics program of study and has done extensive training the world’s major herbal and health tradtions: Western medicine, Chinese medicine, and Ayurveda. He has a BS in Nutrition and is the author of “Moving Into Balance”. Craig is also a Shiatsu Massage and Acupressure Therapist, and a whole foods therapeutic chef with expertise in alchemy and predigestion of foods. He walks his talk by maintaining a daily yoga and meditation practice. We will be discussing Craig’s work with the body and his book “Moving Into Balance”. Clint Werner has degrees in journalism and library science and has worked in the field of preventive health care for over 25 years. He studied macrobiotic cooking and practice in Boston in 1985, relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area where he co-authored the San Francisco Police Department’s health and fitness plan in 1987 and worked teaching AIDS, cancer and heart disease patients how to improve their health with diet and lifestyle changes. His writing has appeared in the book Cannabis Therapeutics in HIV/AIDS, the Journal of Cannabis Therapeutics, Macrobiotics Today, Canine Chronicle, the San Francisco Sentinel and other publications. Clint has been named “Activist of the Month” for June by NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
