Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city.
Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.
While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Jesus Christ is described as Son of David, Son of Man and Son of God. His sonship speaks of his divinity and humanity and is closely associated with his role as promised Messiah, suffering Savior, risen Lord and coming judge and king. It also speaks of his intimate, obedient and unique relationship with his Father and of his mission to enable people to become children of God through faith in him.
Jesus Christ as the Son of David. He is physically descended from David. He is the promised royal. Messiah of David’s line. He is both the Son and Lord of David. Jesus Christ as the Son of Man. Jesus Christ as the Son of God. His divine origin and divinity.
His intimate relationship with the Father. Abba was a term of intimacy and familiarity that children. used with their own fathers. His knowledge of the Father’s will. His obedience to the Father’s mission. His temptation; His sharing in the Father’s work. His role as promised Messiah. His sharing the Father’s character and being. The uniqueness of his sonship. Jesus Christ’s disciples become children of God through him. Jesus Christ as the son of natural parents.
The Chrisrtmas story has not changed. Repeated, rehersed, renewed every year and still celebrated less then the material things the world has to offer. Why not spend a full day in church and celebrate Christ. Whose birthday is it anyway? What would happen if for once we spend a full day celebrating the blessing of family and friends and gifts and joys all weekend after that. A full day in church worshiping and praising, and sharing food and gifts and fellowship with the less fortunate. And so it happened at a church. three hundred homeless ,came and were blessed. it happened when my sis decided to take gifts to kids in a shelter. it happened I shopped for a doll a game and toy for a eight year old at a institution. and so it happened my niece family of nine are going to Fla compliments of a lot winner, All around the world. Someone thought of someone else for Chitmas. You are the church the world needs for Christmas. The point is be the Church and reach a heart. Luke one vs one
In the current study, we delve into Luke 18, following our study of Chapter 17. This study, as was the previous chapter, focused on the coming ofhte kingdom of God.
The primary reason for introducing the parable was the expectation of the immediate arrival of the kingdom of God.
The context of the parable is the persecution the apostles would face leading up to the imminent coming of Christ resulting in the destruction of the temple.
