Journey in the Scriptures with Laurie Ann Smith

    in The Bible

Tonight's journey is Genesis 14:19-15:1. Do you love God's Word? I DO! I am a third year theological seminary student with a serious love for God's Word! God and His Word are one and I love God! It has been on my heart to do another show starting in Genesis 1:1 and daily journeying through the Bible to the last chapter of the Book of Revelation. I love to share God's Word and really delve into every aspect surrounding each passage. I am a non-denomination born again Believer, a Christian who is following Jesus daily, each and every day, to hopefully honor and glorify Him, exalt Him, and remain a faithful servant to our Lord and Savior. I am currently working toward a Bachelor of Ministry Degree, and then hope to obtain a Masters Degree in Biblical Counseling, and following that I hope to obtain a Doctorate of Theological Studies. I have achieved an Associates Degree in Biblical Studies graduating with Honors, and I have a diploma in Biblical Counseling. I hope to share with you the joy and importance of understanding the Bible as I have been taught by many great teachers. I hope you will join me. Please feel free to correct me if at any point I get off track, and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I am a student of God's Word, as we all are; those of us who study God's Word. Do we ever get to the point where we stop learning the truth of God's Word? I don't think so. From the most knowledgeable scholar and Theologian, to the most humble and lowly student like myself, we will never fully be able to learn everything there is to know about God or His Word. This is the very reason I am so eager to share God's Word. I hope you will join me! God Bless us all!

    JUNTO SHOES

    in Lifestyle

This week please join Frankie Picasso on The Good Radio Network this Thursday, January 22 at 1:00 pm est.when her guest is Mauricio Laniado, Founder of Juntos Shoes, a social fashion company whose motto is Look Good, Do Good!

Mauricio is a young social entrepreneur who has reached back to his heritage and taken the lowly El Zapato de Lona, the Ecuadorian street shoe , worn by the working class in  cities like Guayaquil, Ecuador  ( where he was born) and turned it into a fashion statement for all. This shoe is  an iconic part of the Ecuadoran landscape - part functional necessity, part social signifier.

Juntos embraces this heritage and brings it to you, refining and repurposing the design while preserving everything that makes the shoe, the shoe.

That’s why there is a  map of Ecuador on the inside of every pair, so one never forgets where they came from.

It’s also why for every pair sold, Juntos donates an education pack filled with crucial school supplies to a local child in Ecuador –as  a small way of giving back to the places wherehe found  inspiration. So far 1000 packs have been given out to students. The bright yellow bag with the Juntos logo is also funtional as well as beautiful.

I don't think we have anything to worry about if our future includes young Entrepreneuers like Mauricio Lanidades.

For Mauricio and his company..that is what they call- a real  ethical footprint.

  • The Scandalous Birth of a Scandalous Child

    in Spirituality

"Blessed is he  whosoever shall not be offended in Me." (Matthew 11:6)

Christ's birth was scandal. Joseph's neighbors and relatives received the news of his wife's "virgin birth" with about the same skepticism as it would've been received today. And the idea of the promised exalted Messiah of the Jews born to "people of the soil" - a lowly carpenter, did not at all fit the rabbinic expectations of the revered teachers of Israel. Even the place of his birth: Nazareth - a town with such a bad reputation that even the disciple Nathaniel, when first introduced to Christ said "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" (John 1:46). The idea of a prophet from Nazareth, let alone the Messiah Himself, was an absurdity to the Jews.

But there's more: the gospel of salvation itself is called "a scandal": the message and mission of Christ is presented in Scripture as something that men "trip" over, unless they're specifically called by God to believe it. New Year's Day, we'll be talking LIVE about this, on "Jewish Roots", 9:30 PM. Your host: Rev. Rick Anderson. Call with question or comment.

    PETITE MORT~

…A silent film, destroyed in a fire in 1913 at the Pathé studio, before it was seen even by its director. A lowly seamstress, who makes the costumes she should be wearing, but believes her talent – and the secret she keeps too – will soon get her a dressing room of her own.

A beautiful house in Paris, with a curving staircase, a lake, and locked rooms. A famous – and dashing – creator of spectacular cinematic illusions, husband to a beautiful, volatile actress, the most adored icon of the Parisian studios. All fit together, like scenes in a movie. And as you will see, this plot has a twist we beg you not to disclose…

      Published by Serpent’s Tail, 2013

‘There’s a touch of Angela Carter about Beatrice Hitchman’s beguiling debut…complex and cerebral, Petite Mort is softened by beautifully drawn characters, lightly drizzled period detail and an abiding suspicion that love and cinema might be part of the same illusion…’

Fresh Manna Sunday Devotional: Offerings and Gifts Worthy for the King of Kings!

    in Religion

FRESH MANNA OUR DAILY BREAD : SUNDAY MORNING DEVOTIONAL with Apostle Loretta Williams

Today’s Topic: Offerings and Gifts Worthy for the King of Kings!

Sub Topic: It’s the Thought that Counts!

Discussion:  Three wise men travelled across the great desert to a small town seeking to bestow their gifts upon a babe that would one day rule the world.  They didn’t find him in a palace or even at the inn, he was lying in a manger in a lowly stable surrounded by peasants, shepherds and animals. Yet they still paid homage by bowing down before him and offering up their gifts fit  for royalty.  There were many other gifts offered on that special day, some were expensive and there were also simple gifts with minimal monetary value that were offered freely and willingly and all these gifts were received with joy and gladness.  We must learn in our giving and receiving that it’s the thought that counts and then we can truly appreciate what has been offered.

Scripture Text:  (Matthew 2:11)  And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

FAITH TALKS LIVE PRAYER: "TRANSITIONING FROM ADVENT TO CHRISTMAS"

    in Religion

Transition, what is it? Join, General Manager's, Dr Shirley Canniff and her husband, Dr Jeffrey Canniff and their son, Jean-Pierre as they begin to explore this intriguing topic. In approaching the 12 days of Christmas many times, we find ourselves on a journey of multiple transitions some happening all at the same time which can be a bit overwhelming for some of us especailly during this time of the year. In many cases we are hit with the reality of how these changes have often times affected our friends and family around us throughout the years. However, nothing can compare with "THE GREATEST TRANSITION OF ALL" when a young virgin from the House of David gave birth to a little baby in a lowly stable in Bethlehem as foretold by the prophets of old. This child was destined to save many from their sins. This baby is our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ who soon would die so that others may live in Him, thru Him, with Him and for Him.  Christmas is the time to bask in the Glory and Presence of  Our Lord & Savior, Jesus and to begin to see others as Jesus would see and to remain humble at the same time.  At the top of the hour, Dr Shirley will share the interviews of Tim O'Leary, the voice behind WSCIRO station identifier, Jack Yates, a friend and advocate for those who are challenged in their disabilities, and Jean-Pierre who ran away with the topic at hand . At the bottom of the hour, the team of WSCIRO would also like to share with the listening audience, " A Lesson In Caroles" presented by the Stoughton Catholic Collaborative, an outgrowth of the successuful completion of transition in order to furnish positive growth in the spiritual development of Parishes within the Archdiocese of Boston.  Here at WSCIRO, we hope and pray that you & your family will truly have a very Merry & Holy Christmas.
