One that reveals the engaging and active relationships between Fathers and Sons in all of our communities. Friday, February 6th will be NATIONAL SAVE OUR SONS NIGHT. On this evening we encourage Fathers to find ways to spend a significant amount of teachable and fun time with their sons.

Episode 25: Interview with AutoStraddle Writer Madeline Taterka

    in Self Help

About this episode: A friend of mine shared a blog post on my facebook a few weeks ago that really pulled me in. It was titled, "This is a Dead Mom Essay," written by Maddie Taterka, a freelance writer and contributing editor to Autostraddle, an intelligent, hilarious & provocative voice and a progressively feminist online community for a new generation of kickass lesbian, bisexual & otherwise inclined ladies (and their friends).

In this article, I learned that Maddie lost her mom to cancer when she was 16 and immediately connected with her story, as I've lost both my parents to cancer and losing my dad when I was 22 really flipped my world upside down. Also, being a queer woman adds a entirely different spin to loss (in my opinion). I was really interested to get to know Maddie and her story a little bit more, so when she said yes to being open to an interview, I was ecstatic!

About this show: I lost both parents to cancer at 22 and 27. Let’s talk about stuff that’s hard, ways you can move forward in your life and how to get back to a happier place. My intention is to connect those of us who have lost our mothers, our fathers or both parents, at any age, through the arts, life experiments, looking inward and turning pain into something positive.

Losing Our Rights But Gaining In Christ

    in Politics Conservative

With all the talk this week and even to an extent with my last show on some of our rights, whether as Americans or as any free people, be it in France or wherever, I wanted to take today's show back there in a sense as again I look at some stories, some updates on old ones or new ones from old faces, and some brand new, which again show the struggles that  we face mainly in this country but also in other places as well, be they France or wherever.  Several stories to get to today, including a war memorial in North Carolina that had to be taken down, a florist in Washington state and her continued battle, Annise Parker down in Houston is in the news yet again, and a scary precedent set up just north of us in Canada.  That's today at 4:30 eastern time, and archived after that.
