Thomas Reed SHEFFIELD -- Matt and Thomas Reed were sitting in their family home on Boardman Street one evening in September 1966 when their first experience with extraterrestrial life occurred, they say. His website is: (Willow Lake)
Thomas, who was 6 at the time, recalled flashes of light emitting from the Frisbee-shaped object that landed in their yard. It felt like the pressure in the house changed before the brothers inexplicably found themselves on the other end of their property, face-to-face with beings not of this planet.
"I don't run with terminology, but what they looked like was a young, frail human with some characteristics that some might reference as odd-looking beings," Thomas said.
"They put off some type of glow," he said. "I was able to see my brother clearly enough."
And the Reeds have the evidence to back up their claims, much of which will be presented on March 3 during the premiere of "Alien Mysteries," a new show on the Discovery Channel in Canada. The episode will eventually be aired in the United States.
The Reed family's story is the subject of the new series' pilot episode.
"The reason we put it first is because they're just regular people who have had amazing experiences," said Sally Karam, the show's producer. "I think their story is, for many reasons, very strong."

As an artist, speaker or writer, almost everyone that has met him will agree that Suli Breaks is an all round inspiration. After leaving the University of Sheffield with few more job prospects than when he started, Suli Breaks’ pursued a career in poetry, fuelled by disbelief in our current formal education system. Starting out in university competitions and in newspaper columns, he has gradually built a strong following of online and personal fans, of all ages and backgrounds. His YouTube Channel, , balances funny with informative, and tackles many of today’s toughest issues – education, racism, aswell as providing insight in to the artists own personal life. His rose to the international spotlight with his offering “Why I Hate School But Love Education”, which seemed like a breakthrough. Even on top of past BBC 1 coverage, competition success, American blog love and a DVD last year, the 2 million people that have viewed it so far are evidence, as are the thousands of grateful comments. The video took the internet by storm leading to international coverage in both the Huffington and Washington Post. His youtube channel currently boasts over 6 million views and over 100k subscribers. Suli has been hailed by many high-profile people (in particular the Co-Founder of the popular American Def Poetry Jam show, Bruce George) to be a poetry pioneer of the new school as well as constantly being considered to be in the upper echelon of the current generation of inspirational people taking the world by storm.
He is currently working on his debut EP “The Dormroom” which should be available for free download in June 2013. He has also hinted at a book which he is writing, he says it will not be a poetry book at all, but something to provide inspiration.
Masonic Home Companion has been to England and Scotland doing research while enjoying the view.
We are back and ready to share impressions from the International Conference on the History of Freemasonry (ICHF). The study of freemasonry owes a great deal to the work of Ars Quaturo Coronati, the Cannonbury Conference, Sheffield University Department of Studies in Freemasonry.
If we were to adapt a strict approach to information about the Craft, we would become very uncomfortable. By this I mean, we may enjoy the idea of an oral tradition, but that has been replaced. Mankind has always sought ways to communicate beyond the limit of eye contact with a single person.
Our forefathers left pictures, symbols and ideas carved into and onto surfaces that we can still experience to this day.
So lets accelerate our conversation to 2013. Brethren, I look forward to sitting down with you at Masonic Home Companion.
