Today my guest is Lola Juris. Lola's major passion is water-media, and she finds the inquisition of shapes a constant source of exploration. She prefers an intimate view, focusing on lush, lyrical shapes that display a sensuality bordering on the erotic. Her play of colors hopes to illuminate the shadows of the heart.
Her recent works reflect a continuing departure from the direct influence of nature, and they establish an ethereal atmosphere that searches for what to reveal and what to conceal. She uses the self as a filter to explore the world around her. In this way she articulates herself.
"Each image is an invitation into a personal and intimate world into which I plan to seduce the viewer. Therefore, watercolor's unpredictability and delightful happenings that appear without apparent effort, suggest a communication with accidents that make it the perfect medium for this adventure."

"Your feelings have more manifesting juice than your thoughts. Your Instrument Panel shows your feelings readings at all times. But most people stop paying attention to their Instrument Panel early on, so they get surprised by things they didn't see coming. Know your Instrument Panel, and you feel trouble coming in plenty of time to change it, and you feel the goodies coming before they get there." Lola Jones

A fascinating true story fused into an unforgettable fiction novel about vulnerability, courage and the art of making a living in the sex trade...
Back in the 90’s, the corrupt post-Soviet Ukraine with its faltering economy, is thrown into a devastating depression. Times are hard.
Three naïve young sisters – Natalia, Lena and Julia - dream of a better life, and weigh their options: do they stay and struggle like their parents, or join scores of their compatriots in the sex trade in glittering western European cities, who earn in a night what they’d take several months to earn at home?
For sensible, resilient and calculating Lena and Natalia, the transition to the underworld of Luxembourg’s deceptive champagne bars is eye-opening, but smooth. But for fragile, brittle Julia, haunted by a childhood assault, the change is more than just vocational. Struggling to adapt, she turns to alcohol and drugs, exposing herself to increasing danger and depravity; and, ultimately, betrayal, when a deceitful client, who claims to love her, drugs her and cleans her out.
Despite her sisters’ best efforts to intervene, she finds herself in Istanbul – culturally a world apart – in an attempt to make back the money and self-respect she’s lost. Vulnerable without the protection of Luxembourg’s champagne bars, she descends into a hell of drugs and high-risk sex until, at the novel’s terrible climax, a kidnapping, brutal assault and one-sided justice system lead to her imprisonment and a threat of deportation.
How will Natalia and Lena save Julia?

Amanda (Mandee) Burgess, born Amanda Inez Johnson uses the pen name, Inez Lola, to pay tribute to her late grandmothers who molded her into the woman she is today. Grandmother Inez taught her to have compassion for others and, as her comforter, she would often sing Amanda to sleep.
Even though Amanda didn't get to spend a lot of time with her Granny Lola, she did learn from her what it was to be a virtuous Child of God. According to Amanda, "She kept her house in order. I never heard her cuss or gossip. And she was an awesome cook. One of her greatest qualities was her faithfulness to God coupled with a powerful prayer life."
Holding a Bachelor and a Master of Science from North Carolina Central University, Amanda specializes in identifying the source of problematic behavior that leads to criminality. Additionally, she is skilled in assessing the risks and needs of individuals who display patterns of criminal behavior. As the mother of three, she uses her experiences with teen parenthood, child rearing, and a previous marriage to educate others on how to cultivate healthy relationships. Additionally, Amanda is an advocate for teen pregnancy prevention.
Amanda is currently working on developing a non-profit organization called Project Downshift. The goal of Project Downshift is to empower men (with special emphasis on building them up) and women to support each other mentally, physically, and fiscally while building strong households and healthy children. It is based on the belief that empowering the family spiritually and financially is imperative to their success.
Amanda co-authored her first book, "Flag On The Play: A Woman’s Guide to Finding Mr. Right in a World Full of Mr. Right Nows".
