SORT BY Relevancy
This Saturday on Critical Discourse, we want to cover 2 pressing issues.
The first, the press conference by Eric Holder, launched a formal investigation into allegations and of civil rights violations, on the part of the Ferguson, Missouri police, in the wake of the Michael Brown shooting.
To say the least, the results should be greatly anticipated and perhaps to many black people, a confirmation and vindication of what many have said for decades, that [predominately white] police forces tend to act heavy-handedly, when it comes to black people, especially black men, which ultimately reverberates into unjust treatment by the larger, criminal justice system.
However, what if the probe does not substantiate such claims? How then, will black people deal with the nagging issues, in which we find ourselves crying out for redress?
Second,, as a smaller part of the minimum wage fight, on Thursday, thousands of fast-food workers across the country went on “strike”, demonstrating and demanding that their wages be increased to $15/hour.
Presuming this was to take place, what will be the impact on food prices? Are their demands, legitimate, or perhaps, part of a larger play by unions, to garner strength, members and money?
And I might ask, is somehow, the illegal immigration lobby interspersed in this?
Phil Kerpen says that just 1.9% of all wage and salary earners make the minimum wage or less. Just 1.5% make less than $10.10, the level Dems want to hike it to. So what does a minimum wage increase really do... increase YOUTH unemployment! TUNE IN!
Have you had your healthy dose of reality lately?
There are always at least two sides to every story. Have you ever wondered how someone, who saw the same thing you did, walked away telling a vastly different story? Which version was correct? Which one was the REAL story? Actually, both are! It’s just a matter of perspective.
Joe takes the issues… especially the controversial issues (politics, prejudice, religion, illegal immigration)… and brings in people from different sides to share their viewpoint. This is definitely not a fluff piece. And while no one is attacked, the questions are hard-hitting.
But the conversation is always respectful and you’re sure to learn something new, even if you don’t agree!
If you’ve always wondered how the “other side” thinks and how they’ve arrived at their “stand”, then this is the show for you!
It’s not the right side, it’s not the wrong side, but the REAL side of the issues!
This show is about living with Quails.
Believe me. It's not easy. They are all kinds of trouble. And herding them is about as difficult as herding cats. Oh. And don't get me started about Cats.
The stories I could tell you.
But, back to Quails. We have big quails and little quails and all sizes in between.
But when you have a husband, who is named after the Quail, and whose great great grandfather, the Ornatholigist discoverded that Quail and is famous … well … that's hard to live down.
