This Installment of The Forbidden Fruit will take a look at the Riots in Baltimore. Is this the outcry of a voiceless people, or simply a few opportunist taking advantage of a bad situation or maybe a combination of both. Victor Hugo once said, "If a soul is left in darkness, sins will be committed. The guilty one is not who commits the sin, but he who causes the darkness." That's food for thought. The plight of the African American is well documented, so why is this darkness permitted to continue? Who's purpose does it serve? This is suppose to be the greatest country on earth. Is that is just hype and spin? We're more than a century removed from slavery, so why are we still hung up on race? Who's keeping this going and why?
Let's talk about it here on The Fruit!

Recent events in Baltimore and elsewhere have brought racism to the front of our dialogue again...but what are we failing to address when we frame the issue as one of race? How do we talk about those other issues without appearing to ignore racism? How does focusing on racism allow many people to ignore the other issues by treating the whole thing as "someone else's problem?" What's your perspective on all this? Summer is approaching and with the likelihood that some other poor unfortunate criminal will die at the hands of police, can we expect similar events in other big cities across the country? We'll talk about this possibility and other issues associated with the riots with Hot Air's Jazz Shaw.
