#BlackLivesMatter: At the Intersection of Social and Environmental Justice

    in Culture

In a recent article in The Nation, Canadian author/activist Naomi Klein posed an important question/observation: "What does #BlackLivesMatter have to do with Climate Change?" (http://www.thenation.com/article/192801/what-does-blacklivesmatter-have-do-climate-change)

On the next episode of PR 13:20, we'll look deeper into Klein's inquiry, and discuss the similarities revealed when juxtaposing the issues of social and environmental justice, the affects of rampant police brutality and unchecked global warming, and the communities and nations most affected. We'll also look at where these movements intersect and appear to be headed, and what actions can be taken to ensure that systemic change does occur, and soon, because our lives do depend upon it.

Filmmaker and Spiritual Explorer Marie-Rose Phan-Le's Talking Story

    in Spirituality

Filmmaker and spiritual explorer Marie Rose Phan-Le takes us on a fascinating adventure into the world of healing, shamanism, plant medicine, and divination with her award-winning documentary and book, Talking Story: One Woman's Quest to Preserve Ancient Spiritual and Healing Traditions.  Talking Story documents author Marie-Rose Phan-Lê's worldwide journey to find healing and truth from authentic mystics and shamans, while recording their disappearing traditions and discovering her own gift as a healer. Learning that many indigenous cultures were on the verge of losing their medicinal plants, healing traditions, and spiritual knowledge as a result of habitat destruction, cultural assimilation, and globalization, she travels to Peru, Hawaii, Vietnam, Tibet, Nepal, India and China, meeting with healers and shamans and documenting their practices.

In the midst of Marie-Rose's exploration, she begins to connect with her own healing roots, following in the footsteps of her aunt who in Vietnam had been a healer. Once back in the U.S., Phan-Lê's spiritual development continues to be a medium for healing.

Marie-Rose has more than twenty years experience in films and television production. She is the founder and president of Healing Planet Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation & presentation of ancient healing.
