    in Travel

This week's episode of Travel Today with Peter Greenberg  from the third largest city in California and a destination worth putting on your radar: San Jose, California. Joining Peter Greenberg will be Tim Ritchie, President of the Tech Museum, one of the great innovation centers in the city and a great environment for education and scientific exploration for both children and adults. Mayor Sam Liccardo talks about San Jose being the tenth largest city in the United States and how it is preparing for Super Bowl 50. Mark Purdy, sports columnist for the San Jose Mercury News, gives insider tips on how to get tickets to the big game, as well as cut-rate deals on Super Bowl merchandise (no matter who is playing in the game). Ken Middlebrook, Collections Manager at History San Jose, talks about the state’s former capital and how San Jose both prospered from—and barely survived—the gold rush.

Last but not least, local hero and former NFL quarterback Jim Plunkett dissects the changes in professional football over the last 30 years. He also talks about the necessity for the new Levi’s Stadium and how this may be a game changer for the city. There’s all of that and more as Travel Today with Peter Greenberg comes from the Fairmont San Jose in San Jose, California.

Brandon Marshall Interview; NY Jets Talk

    in Sports

While making the rounds in promoting Audience Sports on DirectTV, New York Jets Wide Receiver Brandon Marshall took some time to talk to JetNation.com about how the channel is keeping him busy interviewing celebrities during Super Bowl week while sharing some thoughts on what the future holds for some of his Jets teammates.

Marshall touched on his expectations for year number two in Chan Gailey's system if quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick returns and Geno Smith's maturation, but hesitated to discuss little-seen quarterback Bryce Petty with whom he didn't likely get many reps in 2016.

The veteran wideout also heaped praise on fellow receiver Quincy Enunwa and how he flawlessly moved from wide receiver to a smash mouth H-back for Gailey and the Jets.

Taiwan-Discovering The Beautiful Isle's Food Paradise

    in Travel

Keelung’s Miaokou Night Market has a reputation of being one of the most popular night market’s in Taiwan. The Main street where the Dianji temple first started drawing patrons to the area is lined with food stalls serving some of the most popular dishes and snacks found in Keelung.

This is a very tourist friendly night market with translations in Japanese and English, some are loose in their descriptions. Honestly lots of great tasting food but I wouldn’t consider alot of it nutritious.

One of my favorite stalls serves oil rice, a sticky style rice with mushrooms and a delicious soup served with lumps of fresh crab meat. Being a port city there is an abundant selection of seafood and other interesting tasty treats.

Further south, in central Taiwan lies the city of Taichung. The climate is drier in this part of the island making for a perfect environment for night markets. Taichung is world-famous as the place where bubble tea was invented.

If you ask most Taiwanese people where their favorite place to go for a weekend is many will say Tainan. This city located in Southern Taiwan was once the capital of the island before the Japanese began their 50 year rule of the country and moved operations to Taipei. There are lovely Japanese colonial era buildings everywhere but most people come to Tainan for the food.

This is the Anping area of Tainan with the oldest streets on the island. People travel from all over Taiwan just to visit and try the many special snacks only made here, like one of my favorites, Coffin Toast. Excerpts from "Taiwan-Discovering The Beautiful Isle's Food Paradise".
