This Spring, as part of NWP's College-Ready Writers Program (CRWP), educators from across the country participated in an online version of a lesson study focused on two of CRWP’s mini-units. Join us for a conversation with educators who participated in this Online Learning Experience. Guests will talk about how the structure of the lesson study has impacted their practice, their experience with teaching the mini-units in their classrooms, and their experience with participating in the online community.
One of the biggest questions I get, is the "how to adjust a lesson plan to a specific age or group". That is the topic of this class/show.
I am going to help you with your plans regardless of the age of the student and the knowledge they already have. EVEN if that student is YOU!

Meet Joan Posivy, founder of GlobalYouthProject.org and author of The Way Success Works: How to Decide, Believe, and Begin to Live Your Best Life. Joan will share The Lesson of the Orange Tree…If we were to plant an orange seed in the ground and mindfully nurture it, eventually it would grow into an orange tree. Not a pine tree or a maple tree or an oak tree – only an orange tree. Why? Because residing in the seed is an embryo – a plan – which dictates what it can become. It can’t grow into anything else. Bonnie's comment: This is ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS I've read about Success… Kudos to Joan.
Meet 17-year-old classically trained pianist and author Andre Mego, who wrote A Wounded Lion about the significant poetic messages of rap music from 8 artists who have inspired his life through their lyrics, quotes, and actions: Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, 50 Cent, The Game, and Tupac. Andre’s message: Rap is not trash, it's an art. These artists deserve respect after overcoming their hostile and tumultuous home environments. http://www.amazon.com/A-Wounded-Lion-André-Mego/dp/1522730664
This evening on this show which will be my third attempt to bring listeners an impactful Lesson One: On Collaboration for my new series on this show titled “Conversations With Anastasia On The Art of Dialogue/Conversation.” The other two tries didn’t go so well. So today I am like a kid who fell out of her saddle, needing to get back in it before I lose my nerve.
Join me this evening as I get back on my bike again, dust off my bottom and do my best to cross the finish line; the destination I am holding in my mind for a winning show. One of my major errors on those other two shows besides the technical difficulties, which were BIG at the time and resolved since, was that this show, Anastasia The Storyteller, has, to date, been established for me to share stories of the adventures of "Anastasia," that’s me, and the intriguing lessons I've have learned from the amazing life I've lived.
But those two other programs had almost no stories. What an oversight that was!
Today I make up for that lapse with stories of my own as well as those of others interwoven with philosophies on how to make a better world for you and me!
Please join me! And this evening, if you are around, I will be taking call-ins. So get in early!
Lesson One: Dialogue is collaborative. Debate is oppositional.
Theme: How Collaboration Can Change Problems To Solutions
Anastasia and Kim explore the goals and motivations for artful conversation. And what the elements are that make art of conversation. Anastasia invites listeners to visit the Study Guide for this show on her Anastasia The Storyteller blog site for an interactive compilation of exercises that build from this discussion and previous ones.
A follow up to this show titled "Gifts Of Collaboration Versus Opposition In Conversation/Dialogue" has been scheduled to broadcast soon to expand on the perspectives offered here and how Anastasia and Kim have lived these out with one another in real time.
