    Mayoral Candidates Speak: Are Blacks And Latinos Allies or Rivals?

    Census figures indicate growing numbers of Latino citizens, based on new births and new immigrants. On issues such as immigration reform, multilingual education and minority set aside programs for contractors, African Americans and Latinos often find themselves pitted against each other as rivals for jobs, contracts and economic resources. Among men, both groups are often the recipients of racial profiling and media stereotyping as criminals. There are white gangs as well as African American and Latino gangs, yet when issues of gang violence are addressed white males are not the targets of police crackdowns, black and Latino males are. Chicago Mayoral candidates Jesus "Chuy" Garcia and William "Dock" Walls address the relationship between African Americans and Latinos and how it will affect this year's election.

    K.Secret Dunbar is CEO/Founder/Creative Director of Jon Marc and Secret7; both under the umbrella of Seven Curves. Her passion for fashion began at the very young age of two, when she insisted on dressing herself.


    Growing up she’d often altered garments for a polished fit as she developed her curves. Before graduating high school she secured a management position in retail; it was then when she realized fashion was not only her passion it was also her purpose. A few years later, she opened a brick and mortar; this was the beginning of her seeking a place in the fashion market as a retailer. Although the business was successful, it was still difficult for K.Secret to find manufactured garments to fit the curvy hourglass figure of her and customers with the "curvy woman" issue. Very frustrated she resorted to altering inventory to compliment the shape of hourglass curves. Eventually, she constructed an entire garment and from there was inspired to design for women with the same curvy women complexes.


    K.Secret soon discovered with fashion design and apparel construction there was a need for fashion education. A stickler for perfection she closed the business and pursued a full time degree in Fashion Merchandise and Retail Management at the Art Institute of Washington. During her studies she discovered a great love for Fashion History, Product Development, Merchandise Management and Branding; these courses were the foundation of her future in fashion as a designer. Shortly before receiving a Bachelor’s Degree, her research solidified the demand for her niche in the market; women with hour glass curves. This revelation was the births of Jon Marc- a clothing line for women with hourglass curves, Secret7- the footwear line (coming soon), and Seven Curves- the online boutique.

Upon graduating from Baylor University in 2002, Dr. Love went on to pursue a Master’s Degree (Education Leadership)at Prairie View A and M University, with some special emphasis on planning and instruction at Texas A and M. University. Since Love would not wait a year or two years to go back to school, 2005 proved to be the year that Dr. Love would work toward obtaining her PhD (Education Leadership), which she did.

We the people of the United States of America in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common Defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. Elected officials are Government workers who  come from amongst us.Their purpose seem to be only to get paychecks. They talk and act on the goods of Business owners while treading on the welfare and liberty of we the people. Over $3trillions in tax revenue for 2014 is more than enough for congress and senate to pass jobs to get America to a full workforce. America's 50million businesses, 10% of which are foreign owned, should hire 50 million people in 30days. Working class, be wise. Consider the ant! Unite. Speak as one. Jobless numbers 5.5% smacks of racism. Blacks-10.5%. Latinos 6.6%. Whites 4.7%. Asians 4.0%.
