Lambert was a friend of radical abolitionist John Brown and, like the more militant abolitionist leader Henry Highland Garnet, Lambert called for the slaves to rise up against their masters. At times Lambert very publicly helped fugitive slaves escape to Windsor, Canada, which was just across the Detroit River from the city of Detroit. Lambert’s most famous incident occurred in 1847, when he had the owner of fugitive slave Robert Cromwell thrown in jail so that Cromwell could escape to Canada by boat.
Abolitionist and civil rights activist William Lambert was born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1817, the son of a manumitted father and a freeborn mother. As a young man Lambert was educated by abolitionist Quakers.
Twenty-three year old Lambert arrived in Detroit, Michigan in 1840 as a cabin boy on a steamboat, and eventually started a profitable tailoring and dry cleaning business. Upon his death Lambert left behind an estate estimated at $100,000. Lambert was also a founder of the St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church and served as one of its wardens.
Join DJ Nika and Juneau to analyze, discuss and celebrate the Tour of the Summer of 2014: Queen + Adam Lambert. There is so much to cover, so we will tackle this monumental opus by spreading out our discussion over three consecutive programs, one each week. This week we will tackle the first third of the set list. Please post in comments below, call in during the show and join the chatroom to share your data points: Where were you seated? What was your view of the stage? How was the sound. What were you able to observe about Adam and Queen in those rare lucid moments when your mind wasn't lost in a hormonal haze? What did these performances reveal to you about Adam? About you?
Is this program a desperate ploy to stave of post-tour depression and tide us over until Queen + Adam hit the shores of Oceania? Yes, but so what? We will have fun doing it!
Weekly talk and music radio inspired by our unlikely muse, Adam Lambert. Dedicated to creativity, entrepreurship, personal liberation. LGBTQ causes, people re-inventing their lives, and music, always music!
Adam Lambert headed to the 9:30 Club in D.C. to perform at a benefit for "Marylanders for Marriage Equality" on September 25th. Our friend Belina was there and will join us on Wed night to share her experiences with us. We can enjoy the show vicariously!
What's up #Diamonds,
Thank you for your continued support of the show! Last week we had some 1on1 time with each other in my #Coffeetalk episode. Although I did not get a chance to talk much about the #funstuff, I was able to talk about what the big guys are doing in social marketing for 2014 and the upcoming year. I also talked about the newest trend the #hashtag! I hope you all enjoyed it! And for those of you who haven't heard it yet the link is always available 24/7.
Monday's show proves to be an extension of last Monday's show still talking about business and marketing. This time you will be hearing from Business Consultant Avi Lambert. He is going to enlighten us on some "Business Intelligence" from a marketing and digital story telling point of view. What does this all mean? I will tell you this much it can all lead to better sales within our businesses to start. The rest we will find out on Monday's show, so don't miss it! We learn and network from each other that is how we grow. Please call or Skype in with your business questions we both would #loveit.

With a new look casting him as a mythical character burnished by starlight, Adam covered Bob Marley's "Is This Love" at the Take 40 Lounge in Sydney, Australia. We haven't heard much reggae from him before. Did you like it?
Tonight we'll talk about 'covers' - photos and songs. Adam has covered many genres and wonderful songs over his career; Upright Cafe, American Idol, AI Tour, Glamnation Tour, Queen+Adam Lambert and individual performances.
What are your favourites? Is there a song you would love to hear Adam sing?
Callers are encouraged!!!
It seems more than fitting -- karmic, really -- that Adam Lambert should find himself touring with a band with such a regal name. If Queen is rock royalty, Adam is the crown prince. And like the best of this breed, he handles tour schedules that would fell lesser mortals, progressing from city to city, night after night, always giving each audience his all. Not only that, but he is always encouraging fans to support a larger cause: teen suicide prevention, marriage equality, and most recently the draconian anti-gay laws recently enacted by the sultanate of Brunei. Adam has asked fans to sign this petition protesting these laws. Have you signed?
Join DJ Nika for music and discussion about the upcoming Queen + Adam tour in Australia, as well as about the charitable causes Adam supports. "Adam is the person who feels my pain and inspires me to fight for better life and that is what makes him such a very special person," says Nika, "It's not just about his edgy rocker cuteness and the best vocal and performing skills in the world." Although we are mad for those too!!
