There are many ways to retain top performing employees in a strong company culture. This webinar focuses on three ways to full engage your people: (1) Conditions: Involve your employees in meeting and exceeding your key vendor program requirements. This helps them understand core goals for your company and improves your potential for more vendor funding; (2) A primary motivator for your technical staff is certifications, yet tracking them has been a manual nightmare. See how you can automate the management of your certifications to keep employees passionate about what they do; and (3) consider clearly defined career ladders that show your people how they can grow within your company. Examples will be provided. Geoff Laughton has never forgotten how it felt to live a life that was rote, uninspired, well-paying, and yet extraordinarily “dead.” When he looks back at his life as a very successful corporate executive, he can only remember himself then as a card-carrying member of the walking dead.
I was very high-functioning, climbed the ladders that my family had raised me to believe were the marks of success, got to a salary that I couldn’t have imagined I’d ever make; yet, by 34 years old, internally, I was beyond comatose. The one thing I had going for me in those days was my family; however, I was such a workaholic that my wife and children rarely got to have much of me, other than the flat, “dead” version of me.
Fortunately, full physical and emotional breakdowns suffered at 35 led me, kicking and screaming, into a path of working on myself and seeking to get healed that changed me forever.
Finally having no choice, I began the journey of healing that involved many transformative workshops, retreats, and working with Spiritual Masters. Through all my studies and experiences in my healing journey, I have deeply re-connected to a profoundly abiding love for Spirit to which I have devoted my life to nurturing, sharing, and teaching others to cultivate.http://geofflaughton.com
Why are we Building a Healthy Neighborhood in Nashville with Rebuilding Together? We're talking about volunteering and making a difference on today's show. Tune in.
What the health are we waiting for?!
It’s time to build a healthier America and we’re doing it one neighborhood at a time here in Nashville at Rebuilding Together’s annual Building a Healthy Neighborhood event where we helped 15 homeowners fix their homes and build a stronger neighborhood.
Among the hundreds of volunteers are HGTV hosts, and American Idol contestants Casey James and Ayla Brown. Singer-songwriter and all-American Ayla talks to MyFixitUpLife hosts about creating music, helping in neighborhoods, and performing for the troops. And Casey James shares how he's a DIY guy at heart, and puts down his guitar to pick up a hammer to help build back this Nashville neighborhood on the edge.
Helping out from boards to bark mulch, trucks to table saws, and ladders to love, Lowe's is on, in and above the ground making work happen. Quay Chilcott jumps in to talk Carter's Kids and playground power.
And coming in fully stocked with both crate and barrel overflowing with helping hands and giving hearts, Crate and Barrel CEO Sascha Bopp reminds us that part of the bottom line is a better world.
That’s what we call health from the ground up. Accept nothing less than a better world. It’s time to build a healthy neighborhood right now on MyFixitUpLife.

ENVISION THIS: Off-grid, self-sufficient living that includes creative amenities and technology
Peter Baldwin is a homesteading philosopher, pioneer, and entrepreneur. He supports himself by manufacturing quality traditional and innovative wooden orchard ladders and drums of standard, custom, or traditional design. He also facilitates drumming circles, sometimes on a community-sized drum, and teaches practical life skills in school-based programs.
We are broadcasting from his amazing eco-cabin in Brooks, Maine, self-built for 1/10 the cost of a standard American home. Our audio-tour of his homestead will include his farm; wind, solar, and geothermal power; self-built, innovative cool-box and root cellar food storage; hand water pump with water tank above a wood stove for hot water to sink and shower; bucket commode to produce humanure; and home-made laundry machine.
He claims the eco-cabin runs on about ½ hour of muscle power a week!? It also runs on Peter’s deep philosophical and humane commitment to giving civilization a chance to survive. He will explain how, once we control our fears of change, we enter a vast frontier of opportunity for humankind. We can develop greater connection to self and community; safe, secure, sustainable economies; and regional manufacture of goods and services that will provide full employment.
This is one time we really wish we had video as well as audio capabilities, but check out Peter’s pictures at www.blogtalkradio.com/envision-this and his rap video presentation on YouTube: Peter Baldwin: Rapstar Incognito. Okay, so Peter isn’t really a rapper but he is a star in our book. He lives his motto: “One People, One Earth, One Heartbeat.”
