Today we are live from the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge in Manhattan NY
I will attempt to walk from Manhattan to Queens via the pedestrian walkway on the Bridge.
The bridge is located at/near: 2nd between 59th and 60th Street
for a virtual tour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIsYNyv77F4 or search google word phrase: walk over the queensboro bridge
The upper level of the bridge has four lanes of automobile traffic and provides a view of the bridge's cantilever truss structure and the New York skyline. The lower level has five vehicular lanes, the inner four for automobile traffic and the southern outer lane for automobile traffic as well, used exclusively for Queens-bound traffic.
The North Outer Roadway was converted into a permanent pedestrian walk and bicycle path in September 2000.
The Queensboro Bridge has been shown in the credits of the television series Archie Bunker's Place, The King of Queens, Taxi, Rescue Me, and the The Simpsons epidsodes"
Obstacle course racing is the next soccer. Yeah, it's a 'thing'. You've probably heard of one. Or know someone who has---or will---do one. They change lives.
And for us MyFixitUpLifer's there's an extra cool part: It's loaded with DIY of building stuff. So if you’re not lacing up for your own obstacle course racing journey, without people to build the obstacles—for races or for backyards---the race is just a walk in the woods. So this MyFixitUpLife show will inspire the fire for the DIY of OCR.
Spartan Race’s (in)famous Race Director Norm Koch takes us behind the spectacle where the tools are machetes and chainsaws and a whole lotta work. And HGTV’s John Colaneri—co-host of America’s Most Desperate Kitchens and a Spartan racing / Cross-fit nut job (we love you anyway Johnny)—chimes in with fitness tips he uses to stay extra handsome.
This isn't about the gym. Or how fast you go. It's about life itself and building your own tools for the journey. As someone I admire wrote: I already know what it feels like to fail. I want to see what it's like to succeed.
Life happens to all of us. It's what we do about it that counts; how we handle the obstacles.
So tool up and come obstacle course racing with us Lifers, time for a little dirty fun.
On this episode Frank and Claudia sit down with 2 TB Rays prospects FSL Stone Crabs pitcher Steven Ascher, and 2015 4 round pick pitcher Brandon Koch. We will get to know them on and off the field, and what life will bring next.

The fascinating story of America’s love of vitamins—and how it affects our health
Should I take a multivitamin? Does vitamin C really prevent colds? Can I get enough vitamin D from the sun? Are dietary supplements safe? How much of each vitamin do I need?
There’s no question that Americans are fascinated by vitamins and nutrition – we think that vitamins are always good for us, and that the more we can get, the better. But how much about vitamins do we really know? And how might the answer to that question affect the way we eat?
When it comes to vitamins, it turns out that the experts themselves are surprisingly short on answers. Yes, we need the thirteen dietary chemicals known as vitamins; without them, we would die. Yet despite a century of scientific research (the word “vitamin” was coined only in 1911), there is little agreement around even the simplest of questions, whether it’s exactly how much of each vitamin we each require or what these chemicals actually do.
Oculus Rift and other virtual reality helmets are seen by many as potential game changers in gaming, retail, entertainment and other industries. But VR has significant weaknesses. You're stuck inside the helmet. It locks your experience and makes it difficult to share with co-workers or friends.
John Underkoffler thinks there is a better way. He's been called "the real-life Tony Stark." Underkoffler the computer scientist and award-winning user-interface designer behind the films "Minority Report" and "Iron Man," believes the future isn't locked in these headsets, it's in shareable experiences and workspaces. Collaboration is not about creating virtual walls, but working with one another on actual walls. People need space for their ideas to spread as they flow in real time. VR users need a whole new UI to really interact properly.
We'll talk to Underkoffler about the future of collaboration and shared visuals in the workspace. We'll see what might be beyond virtual reality.
John Underkoffler is CEO of Oblong Industries, developer of the g-speak Spatial Operating Environment and the Mezzanine conferencing and collaboration system in use at firms from Boeing to Beats Music. Oblong's technological trajectories build on fifteen years of foundational work at the MIT Media Laboratory, where John was responsible for innovations in real-time computer graphics, large-scale visualization techniques, and the I/O Bulb and Luminous Room systems. He has been science advisor to films including Minority Report, The Hulk (A.Lee), Aeon Flux, Stranger Than Fiction, and Iron Man. John also serves as adjunct professor in the USC School of Cinematic Arts; on the boards of the 5D Conference, the University Art Museum board at CSULB, Sequoyah School, and the E14 Fund; and on MIT's Visiting Committee. He is the 2015 Cooper Hewitt National Design Award winner for Interaction Design.
A team of award-winning filmmakers has joined forces to make the long-awaited documentary about former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman a reality!
The film will reveal the dark underbelly of Republican politics. It will explain how Karl Rove used his senior executive position in the Bush White House to “get rid of Siegelman” because Republicans simply couldn’t beat him at the polls. Rove began by arranging for loyal Republican operatives, and Siegelman’s political adversaries, to be appointed as federal prosecutors. Those prosecutors quickly indicted Siegelman with fake, made-up charges alleging actions that, according to hundreds of legal experts – both Republican and Democrat – have never been crimes in the history of American jurisprudence. Then, to make those false charges stick, Rove rigged a Federal court by arranging for a Republican “hanging judge" with ethical violations to preside over the trial. Despite multiple conflicts of interest, the judge rejected demands for his recusal.
Inside this excessively biased courtroom, Rove’s henchmen got away with a staggering amount of judicial misconduct: lying to the jury, bribing the judge, scripting witness testimony, threatening the witness if he didn’t comply, multiple improper jury instructions, jury tampering, and allowing admittance of false evidence. Because the only judicial oversight was by fellow Republican officials under Rove’s control, it was completely impossible for Don Siegelman to get anything close to a fair trial, even with baseless, trumped-up charges.
