Host Cyrus Webb welcomes Mary Jo Copeland and Michelle Peterson Hinck to Conversations LIVE to discuss Ms. Copeland's amazing work, her Presidential Citizens Medal and the new edition of the book GREAT LOVE.
Fran Copeland writes a column for one of the few daily U.S. newspapers that is growing in circulation and which now reaches nearly 100,000 people. Her column touches upon what most of us consider insignificant details of life, but are turned into humorous or thought provoking observations. And she does this on a deadline, an example for all of us ‘time-wasters.’ Readers will find her soft-spoken reflections a welcome change from the noise that is constantly blaring at us even in print, but she does have another side. Fran is also the author of a teen-age romance, which sold more than 90,000 copies. But her experience with this book’s publisher is instructive in how authors and publishers may have different goals and operating strategies. She also wrote a story in a comic book (now called :-) a graphic novel)and discusses this exciting and growing field.. Two of her short stories for children may be found in Holiday Helpings, published by Court Jester Press, and available at Amazon.com, Kindle, B&N etc. Today’s writer will benefit from Fran’s experience and her willingness to try various outlets in preparation for her upcoming book. From Martha’s Vineyard to Florida, Fran has left a trail of fascinating views of the world.

What a good time to take a vacation and listen to some Tony Copeland Jamz while you travel...LOL
Take a few minutes to listen to Tony's smooth funky grooves. It's just the type of music that will make all your friends wonder where you picked it up.
Tony has worked for over 25 years as a musician. As a producer and jazz musician he has toured all over the country and many parts of the world performing in theaters, schools, arenas, clubs and concert halls.
NEW CD PROJECT: Tony "Guitar" Copeland recently recorded his new CD project "Waterfalls" a Jazz project featuring Tony on guitar and vocals. This week on Fieldstone Common, Marian Pierre-Louis interviews Kenneth Milano, author of The Philadelphia Nativist Riots.
The outskirts of Philadelphia seethed with tension in the spring of 1844. By May 6, the situation between the newly arrived Irish Catholics and members of the anti-immigrant Nativist Party took an explosively violent turn. When the Irish asked to have their children excused from reading the Protestant version of the Bible in local public schools, the nativists held a protest. The Irish pushed back. For three days, riots scorched the streets of Kensington. Though the immigrants first had the upper hand, the nativists soon put the community to the torch. Those who fled were shot. Two Catholic churches burned to the ground, along with several blocks of houses, stores, a nunnery and a Catholic school. Local historian Kenneth W. Milano traces this tumultuous history from the preceding hostilities through the bloody skirmishes and finally to the aftermath of arrests and trials. Discover a remarkably intimate and compelling view of the riots with stories of individuals on both sides of the conflict that rocked Kensington.
Kenneth W. Milano is a historical & genealogical researcher. He was born and raised in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Milano received his degree in History from Temple University. His 2006-2011 column “The Rest is History” is well remembered by readers of Star Newspapers. He is one of the founders of the Kensington History Project.
