    Keith Hamilton Cobb MRTR

    in Pop Culture

    Celebrating Over 150 Episodes!

Hosts: Jamel, Derrick Dwayne and Flash Gotti

#MyRealTalkRadio interviews Former ABC's All My Children Star: Keith Hamilton Cobb.

This is where I try to make the story of my life appear interesting, isn't it? Well... I was born a poor Black child... But seriously, I dislike these immensely. I'm not sure I know how to be interesting, which I suspect at times I am, and not flagrantly self-aggrandizing, which I despise, at the same time... These are the facts: Nothing is particularly noteworthy until after I graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 1987. Prior to that, I was nominally studying English, and thinking I might become a professor of literature. or a novelist, or a high performance car mechanic... And really it's the unnoteworthy stuff that makes a guy who he is, and not the stuff that happens in the public eye... But, oh yeah, the facts... I trained as a stage actor. I'm still most at home while acting for the stage. I remain most specifically an actor, but have also written extensively, several pieces of short fiction and pieces for the stage. I am looking forward to directing for the stage again sometime in the future. And I am still intent on being in at least one quintessential police drama for the big screen.

I have been an acting coach, I photographer, a woodworker, a painter, a poet.

Beagle Freedom Project: Shannon Keith on The Authentic Woman w/ Shannon Fisher

    in Pets

The Authentic Woman Host, Shannon Fisher, is excited to welcome her guest this week: Shannon Keith, President and Founder of the Beagle Freedom Project (BFP). Keith's organization fights for animal rights on many levels, from fighting for legislation requiring humane treatment of laboratory animals to physically rescuing beagles used in laboratory testing and helping them assimilate into life outside of the lab - and ultimately finding them loving homes.

Beagles are the most popular breed for lab use because of their friendly, docile, trusting, forgiving, people-pleasing personalities. Most beagles used in experiments have never seen grass, the sun, or anything outside the walls of a laboratory. They have received little or no affection & are often afraid of people. Beagle Freedom Project is doing some amazing work in bringing joy & love to these animals.

The Authentic Woman is a weekly radio show hosted by women's rights leader, Shannon Fisher, offering perspectives on the female experience in America. The show delves deeply into the worlds of writers, artists, celebrities, and community leaders. Shannon Fisher on the web: Facebook - Twitter -  Links to Previous Episodes of The Authentic Woman. Military Monday With John D. Gresham and Zenith Press Author Phil Keith

    in History

USS Lexington (CV 2), along with her sister ship, USS Saratoga (CV 3), were America's first real aircraft carriers, and genuine wonders of the world we were commissioned in the late 1920s. Converted from a pair of battlecruiser hulls made surplus by the Washington Naval Treaty, the two ships were the largest, most powerful, and fastest warships in the world. Able to carry and operate up to 90 aircraft, twice as many as any of the contemporary British and Japanese aircraft carriers, Lexington and her sister ship were the platforms where the U.S. Navy learned to take airpower out to sea. But Lexington was more than just a ship, for she also was a home and a schoolhouse for the men who served aboard her. As American's aircraft carrier fleet grew prior to World War II, Lexington and her sister were the ships where the men who would crew those new carriers learned their trades. In addition, some of the U.S. Navy's greatest leaders in World War II were captains aboard the Lexington, including Adm. Ernest J. King and Rear Adm. Forrest Sherman. And even though Lexington was lost at the Battle of the Coral Sea in May 1942, her loss taught critical damage control lessons that are still used today.

To learn more about "Lady Lex," tune in at 1 PM EDT for Military Monday (#MilitaryMonday on the Writestream Radio Network (@Writestream)) hosted by author, historian, journalist and documentary filmmaker John D. Gresham (@greshamj01). John's guest this week is Zenith Press (@Zenith_Press) author Phil Keith, who has written a new book, STAY THE RISING SUN, chronicles the story of the Lexington to her sinking in the Coral Sea.

Kendrick Lamar And Colorism/The Polarizing, Controversial Word "N*gga"

    in Politics

On this episode of Field Afrikan Radio we will be discussing two topics. The first topic we will discuss is colorism in the so-called Black community. Can someone not be "Black" enough? Can someone rap about "Blacker the Berry" while having a fiance' that represent the extreme opposite. Is colorism a real problem in Black America? The second topic we will be discussing is the the use of the word n*gga. Does that word hold Black people back? Can someone be revolutionary yet use that word? Those are some of the questions we'll discuss. Join us.
